Anna's pov:
Pain is an unpleasant feeling often caused by a intense or damaging stimuli. It can be caused in multiple different ways, from something as simple as cutting your finger to something a little more awful, being shot.
You may wonder why I'm contemplating over pain like this, and I'll explain by taking you back to when it happened.
"Hey, get away from that fence!" Someone shouts at me but I'm much to occupied by looking at the footprints in the snow. Multiple ones.
I'm not sure if maybe there was a herd or it was people. I'm curious though.
Suddenly I feel something hard hit me straight in the middle of my back, sending me down to my knees. Something cracked. I don't think it's broken, but I don't know.
I let out a groan and I feel someone help me up to my feet. Tucker. He pushes me back against the fence pain go down throughout my spine.
"If you tell Charlie I will not hesitate to kill you. You hear me?" Tucker says holding his knife up to my throat.
I look at him with wide eyes and nod. I don't think he meant to his me with his gun. Maybe it was an accident? The panic in his eyes shows me that it really was an accident, although I don't understand how you do something like that by accident.
He releases me and I stumble away from the fence and towards the house. I can barely walk it hurts so bad. He must have hit a nerve or something.
I quickly go to Charlie's room and lay down on the couch. I was supposed to be here the whole day, but I wanted to walk around instead because I got bored.
After a few hours Charlie comes in. When he sees me he smiles widely and I give him a small smile in return.
"It's time for dinner." Charlie says.
I nod and start to stand up but am knocked back down by the shock of pain. It's worse than before. I take a deep breath and try again, this time making it to my feet.
He didn't notice because he was getting a cigarette from his desk.
He starts to walk out and I follow him as fast as I can in my state.
He turns around on the stare case and catches me grimace as I take a step down. He frowns at me and waits for me to catch up to him, but when it takes forever he comes back.
"What's wrong with you?" He asks me, not really sure if I'm actually hurt or not.
I shake my head at him and speed way up, gritting my teeth through the pain.
He shrugs and we make our way to the cafeteria, where Wanda serves us spaghetti.
I smile gratefully at her as she sets mine down and make the mistake of making eye contact with Tucker.
He gives me a warning look and I advert my attention to my food.
Dinner is slow, with Charlie throwing accusing looks at me in between his conversation with Mason.
After dinner I waddle back up the stairs and to Charlie's room with him.
"What happened to you?" He asks once we reach the door.
I shake my head and walk past him.
"Let me see your back." He says, starting to sound impatient.
I shake my head again and he crosses over to me. He starts to un-button my blue flannel shirt but I stop him.
"I'm fine." I say and push his hands away.
"If you're fine, then let me see." Charlie says.
I sigh and he un-buttons the rest of my shirt, leaving me in a white spaghetti strap cami.
I turn around and he pulls the back of my shirt up. I hear a sharp intake of breath as he sees a bruise, most likely. I'm hoping that it's not bad, but the gasp didn't give me much encouragement.
After a second I pull my shirt down and turn back around.
"Who did this to you?" He asks me while clenching his teeth.
"I fell." I say simply.
Charlie shakes his head at me and I know that he doesn't believe me for a second.
"Lay down." He says before disappearing into the bathroom.
I sigh and lay down on my stomach like he says.
He returns after a second with a tube of icy hot in his hand.
Charlie sits to the side of me and rubs some of the icy hot into my skin. I hiss with pain as his fingers press down to hard onto the area. I sit up slightly and he gently pushes me back down.
"Sorry, Red. Just relax." He advises me.
I try to relax my spine and shoulders and it helps a little bit.
He massages my skin for a little while, making it feel much better. Or maybe that's just the burn from the icy hot. Who knows. Either way, it helped.
He moves my hair away from the back of my neck and places a warm kiss on my skin and I tense back up and feel my cheeks grow hot.
I don't know what his problem is, he knows I have a boyfriend. Although maybe we aren't really dating anymore since Carl thinks I'm dead and I told him to find someone else. Regardless, it still doesn't feel right.
It's completely dark at this point so Charlie blows out the candle and I roll over on the bed towards the wall. I've discovered that the bed is about ten million times more comfortable than the couch, so because he promised to keep his hands to himself I have been sleeping here lately.
I hear Charlie lightly snoring within a few minutes and I lay awake, wondering.
I wonder if the group has moved on yet and forgotten about the Greene family entirely. We're all gone now. Maybe they've found a home somewhere. Somewhere that's not temporarily where Judith can grow up. Somewhere Carl can make friends and maybe even have a girlfriend. I hope so.

(Sorry it's a boring chapter, it was kind of a filler. I had way more written and then Wattpad decided to be a jerk and delete it so I will probs re-write it into the next chapter. I would just like to say that I never truly understood what 'boys are so confusing' meant until recently. 🙆 Me ripping my hair out from frustration. Xoxo, Isabella. <3)
