Anna's pov:

"Why are you in such a smiley mood today?" Charlie playfully tugs the end of my French braid, a cigarette hanging from the corner of his mouth.

"I don't know." I laugh.

I just feel happier today. For the first time in months, I think everything is going to be okay.

Dave walks by us, carrying one of the containers now filled with gas. "Maybe she found drugs at-"

I scream.

One minute, every thing was fine. Dave and Charlie were playfully teasing me about being in such a smiley mood. The next, everything was wrong. Ripped from my grasp in the blink of an eye.

Dave's body drops to the ground when we hear the gun shot, the container slipping from his hands.

The first gun shot was like the start of a rain storm. When you're outside and least expecting it. All of the sudden one rain drop smacks you flat on the face and then it starts pouring. That was us. The first gun shot is followed by a down pour, and this down pour is made of bullets instead of rain drops.

Charlie pulls me down to the ground in a squatting position and begins to yell orders to the men. I don't pay attention to them. I crawl over to Dave's body.

"Anna, come on." Charlie yells, pulling on my arm.

"I have to help Dave! They won't shoot me."

I have a funny feeling that I know who's behind these bullets. And I don't think they were targeting Dave. He just happened to walk in front of the wrong person at the wrong time.

Charlie realizes that I'm right and nods his head. He let's go of my arm and I crawl across the pavement to Dave.

It's then that I discover there is no helping Dave. The bullet went straight through his brain. He's gone.

Walkers are flocking towards us. All of the noise must have attracted them. Unless the people shooting at us have something to do with them.

I pull Dave's semi-automatic hand gun off of him and load a clip of bullets into it. My fingers are shaking and I drop it by accident. Keeping one eye on the lady in a nurse uniform that's about to get herself some fresh meat, I sit back on my butt and try desperately to load the gun.

My heart is pounding out of my chest and my hands are shaking way to much. I'm not familiar with the gun and I've never used one exactly like it before. I can't do it.

I've took to long and the walker is only two steps away from me now. I toss the gun aside and drag myself backwards with my hands, a whimper escaping my lips. Although Dave is fresh meat, the walker passes him because I'm fresher. I'm still kicking.

Blood spray from her head and she drops onto the ground. The walkers close to me start dropping like flies. I look up to see Carl standing up from behind a turned over barrel in the woods. He's the one killing them.

Our eyes lock for a brief second but I'm distracted when I see Charlie lining his gun up to shoot Carl from the corner of my eye.

"No!" I shout.

I jump at Charlie, knocking him onto the pavement from the side and making his gun shoot into the air instead.

"Really?" He groans as I roll away from him.

He pulls two knives out of his belt and hands them to me. I take one in each hand and flip them around.

The first walker that comes at me I push into the brick wall and slice it clean through it's head. Pushing my way over to the next one, I throw it to the ground and stamp on it's head. A walker attacks me from behind, shoving me to the ground. I twist around as fast as I can, stabbing it's head and somehow managing to escape.
