On the first day, man was granted a soul and with it, clarity. On the second day, upon Earth was placed an irrevocable poison, a soul-devouring demon.

Year 849
For the Survey Corps it was a normal day on an expedition, casualties upon casualties, men and women being devoured by the horrible, inhuman monsters they called Titans. The beasts that had, for the last 100 or so years, forced humanity to hide behind massive walls too large to be broken through, or at least that was what humanity thought until the colossal titan broke through, leaving a trail of devastation. Families were broken apart and many innocents lost their lives to the starving Titans. It did not matter how many were eaten, they were never satisfied, always devouring one and then preying upon the next. Humanity seemed doomed to suffer a slow and steady extinction as they slowly lost territory to the ravenous humanoids.
It may have been an ordinary day on the 16th of July, 849 but it was not an ordinary night for on that night, the moon turned a sickly, blood red that brought with it, hope and despair in equal measure, a chance for humanity to finally win their century long war against their oppressors and a possibility for them to die a much quicker death.
That night, spread flames across the forest that advanced on the survey corps night camp. The soldiers quickly took to action and began packing up with haste. The elite Levi squad took guard at the perimeter in case any Titans awoke and attempted to devour them. However it was not a Titan that would prey upon them, it would be a demon of hatred.
Without any warning, a tree coated in flames shot towards the camp, landing dead centre. The dry night allowed the flames to spread effortlessly across, burning everything it's deadly touch contacted. From the burning forest came charging the demon. A black horn sat right above each eye, almost completely covering them. It had a massive coat of long, red hair running down it's back. It's mouth had human-like teeth, sharper than a normal human tooth but still blunt enough to be recognisable as such. It's skin was grey and the red hair went down the sides of it's face and turned white as it reached the chin forming a beard.
It's right arm ended in two claw-tipped fingers and a thumb and it's left arm was a massive coiled appendage formed of it's hatred born fire. It's two legs were short and the heavy weight of it's upper body forced it to walk around on it's legs and right arm while it's left arm remained raised off the ground.
The Levi squad took action quickly and used a nearby abandoned village as a battle ground, the problem was they had to lure it from flat ground with nothing to use their 3DMG on except the demon itself. Gunther and Petra hooked onto it's legs and zipped towards it at high speed, their blades drawn and ready to cut it's flesh. The demon, upon noticing the scouts, uncoiled it's fire arm and swung it, a swarm of fireballs flinging from the burning appendage.
The two veteran scouts reacted with haste and wasted no time unhooking the cables from the terrible Oni's resilient flesh and re-shooting it at the grass to it's side, successfully dodging the fatal attack. The devil growled in frustration and lashed it's left arm towards Petra on it's left in a sweep. The molten arm was certainly big but not big enough to catch out a well timed jump. Petra managed to jump over the demon of hatred's sweep and grappled onto it's hide, propelling herself with the pressurised gas in the manoeuvre gear. She raised her blades and slashed the Oni's nape, leaving behind a deep gash that would kill any Titan.
This failed Shura however, was no Titan. It roared in pain and attempted to bite Petra but a slash from Gunther pushed it's head aside. It swung both it's arms wildly, the grass around it being set into a blazing inferno. Both scouts retreated to the village were they would have an advantage of mobility, being able to zip around freely with the Titan slaying gear.
