Laquan's POV

I'm in mine and Shang's tent. Looking at the painting of Shuchun noticing how much she looks like Jian. Also thinking about Jian's odd behavior when we had a bath together. I haven't much time to think about it, with training the new recruits.

"You ok Laquan?" Shang asks me.

"Yeah just thinking" I tell him as I put the painting away. If my suspicions are right, then Jian could be in a lot of trouble. I'll confront him about it tomorrow. Just then Chi-fu runs into the tent in only a towel.

"Captians, urgent news from the general!" he shouts. "We're needed at the front" he states. Handing Shang a scroll and he reads it.

"Get dressed, we leave at dawn" Shang states. "I'll tell the men" he tells me. I nod my head and he left. I decide to go tell Jian.

Shuchun's POV

I'm humming as I brush Zhao as Khan waits patiently for his turn. I'm thinking about home, hoping mine and Mulan's family are ok. Mulan went to get us some dinner from the food tent. Though tried to get me go so she wouldn't have to see anyone. "Jian!" Laquan says as he approaches me.

"Evening captain" I say with a pleasant smile.

"We just got urgent news from the general, we're leaving tomorrow at dawn for the front" he tells me.

"I'll let Ping know and will make sure we're ready" I assure him.

"Good" he says and looks conflicted about something.

"Something wrong sir?" I ask him.

"Just be careful out there" he tells me.

"Of course captain" I tell him and he left. I put the brush down and go into the tent. I start to pack mine and Mulan's things. She returns and looks at me confused. "We've been summoned to join the battle at the front. We leave at dawn" I state. She nods her head and we have dinner. Then get back to packing. We then tack up our horses then call it an early night.

(Time skip)

We've been marching for nearly two days straight. We should reach our destination by sunset. Right now Zhao and Khan are pulling the wagon with the cannons in them. Everyone starts to sing to help pass the time. "For a long time we've been marching off to battle" they sing.

"In our thundering herd we feel a lot like cattle" Yao sings.

"Like a pounding beat our aching feet Aren't easy to ignore" the men sings.

"Hey! Think of instead A girl worth fighting for" Ling sings. Putting an arm of Chien-po and Yao's shoulders.

"Huh" Mulan and I say.

"That's what I said, a girl worth fighting for" Ling sings. "I want her paler than the moon. With eyes that shine like stars" he sings.

"My girl will marvel at my strength. Adore my battle scars" Yao sings.

"I couldn't care less what she'll wear or what she looks like it all depends on what she cooks like Beef, pork, chicken Mmm" Chien-po sings. No surprises there.

"Bet the local girls thought you were quite the charmers" Yao says to Mulan and I.

"And I'll bet the ladies love a man in armor" Ling sings.

"You can guess what we have missed the most. Since we went off to war" the men sing.

"What do we want?" Ling asks.

"A girl worth fighting for" the men sing.

"My girl will think l have no faults" Yao sings

"That I'm a major find" Chien'po sings. Then look and Mulan and I expectantly.

"How 'bout a girl who's got a brain" I suggest.

"Who always speaks her mind" Mulan adds.

"Nah" the trio says.

"My manly ways and turn of phrase. Are sure to thrill her" Ling sings as he leans against the wagon.

"He thinks he's such a lady killer" Yao tells us. He slaps Khan's hindquarters and he gallops with Zhao. Making Ling fall into the mud. We all laugh.

"I've a girl back home who's unlike any other" Chi-fu sings.

"Yeah, the only girl who'd love him is his mother" Yao tells Mulan and I.

"But when we come home in victory. They'll line up at the door" the men sing.

"What do we want?" Ling asks from Chien-po's shoulders.

"A girl worth fighting for" the men sing back.

"Wish that I had" Ling sings.

"A girl worth fighting for" the men sing. They all start to whistle pulling Mulan and I into a line. We  break free and whistle. We turn to se Chien-po, Ling and Yao about to throw snowballs at us. "A girl worth fighting..." the men stop sing.

Chien-po, Ling and Yao look behind us in horror. And I smell smoke. Mulan and I turn to see a burnt down village. And I realize this was our destination. "Search for survivors" Laquan orders. Half the men stay with the horses and supplies. While the rest of us investigate the destroyed village on foot.
