Chapter 9- The Cosmos gives a Clue

Avneet POV

There's now just one thing that drives me- the Soccer Team. Today afternoon there's the first sign-up of names which the captain will take for real tryouts over the weekend!

All I need is one sign of good luck and I'm 100% sure the rest of the day will go great! Right?

I close my eyes at the thought and lean against a wall for a second, then someone taps on my shoulder.

No Way! It's Siddharth the desi boy!

Wait... no it can't be, this guy's wearing a leather jacket...

Avu: Hi, I'm Avneet...y'know I know someone who looks just like you. But he's really different...

Sid: Um.. ya I'm Siddharth.

Avu: Wait, WHAT? But where are your malas?

Sid: Oh please, since my mom can't find me here, I don't have to wear them.

Avu: oh, At first I thought there was some sorta temple nearby. (letting out a laugh as Sid just rolls his eyes)

Avu: Anyway whatcha doin here?

Sid: (pursing his lips in utter disappointment) does it not occur to you that I may be getting an education too.

Avu: oooh- which college?

Sid: (starting to walk away as Avu pulls him back)

Avu: I'm only kidding lol.

*Lunch ending bell rings*

Avu: Well I'll see you around...

Sid: yea. (They wave each off as they head towards their next classes)

Well maybe this day won't be that bad... idk.

It's 4:50pm as the last class of the day ended. I fetch a coffee as I make my way back to my room.

Only 20 minutes till I give my name to the team!

I manage to make my way to my dorm as I put some books down on the bedside table, as someone storms through the door.

Jaan: (sighs and rolls her eyes at her)

Avu: Why do you hate me so much?

Jaan: I don't hate you. That would be paying you much tooo attention.

Avu: (checking the time and smiling) 15 more minutes...

Jaan: Whatcha excited about?

Avu: The Soccer team... I'm gonna give my name to Captain Faisal Sheikh.

She could have laughed, or even teased me about it, but she just stood completely still. She's just staring at me.

Avu: hey... you ok?

Jaan: (snapping out of her daze) uh- yea. Y'think yOu can make it into the soccer team. You're crazy.

Avu: why?! Do I not look like winning material!

Jaan: Come along, lemme show you something.

I hesitated at first, then I decided to follow her out the door.
