I arrived at work at the usual time. there was a line out the door of people waiting to get into 'golf n stuff'.
the place is always crowded on the weekends. it's the normal teen hangout in the valley.
a group of boys walked into the prize area. one had a mohawk, a nerdy looking guy was beside him, and there was another one. he had black hair, and a large smile on his face as he walked in.
they all walked up to the counter where i was working. they each had a bunch of tickets in their hand.
the guy with the mohawk threw his tickets down on the counter "i'll take my prizes now." he demanded, and he laughed while looking at his friends.
the cute guy with dark hair subtly rolled his eyes at his friend.
the mohawk guy told me the prizes he wanted and i gave them to him. i did the same with the nerdy one. i have no idea what their names are so i obviously made such lovely nicknames for them.
the two walked away but the one who's caught my eye from the beginning stayed at the counter.
"i- i'm sorry about him." he smirked.
i chuckled. "it's okay, i'm honestly used to it. i've been working here for quite a while. there's no shortage of assholes that walk through that door."
he laughed. "so uh, how long have you been working here then?" he asked.
"for about two months. not too long i know, but i'm definitely used to the environment and the people." i explained.
he nodded and pushed out his bottom lip. "i feel bad i um- i've never really seen you around here before." he stuttered. he seemed genuinely sorry for not recognizing me, but i don't blame him. i don't make myself noticeable. i'm not much of a people person i guess.
"well i used to work different hours. i recently changed them though. i also don't go to school around here or anything. i'm homeschooled." i replied.
he subtly smiled, "ahh i see. well hopefully i'll run into you more often." he rejoiced.
i nodded and smiled back. "i hope so!"
he started to walk away, but then he quickly turned back and walked over to the counter again. "i'm sorry i didn't catch your name?" he realized.
"oh right, i'm y/n!" i smiled. "and you?" i asked.
"miguel!" he replied and held his hand out. we shook hands.
"nice to meet you." i smiled.
"you as well." he nodded and walked away. he kept his eyes locked on me until he was out of sight.
