It had taken a lot of explaining on hers and Remus' part to finally make James understand that she was not a traitor to him for choosing to go with Lily to the dance. However, the boy seemed to need a reminder every so often, such as now, as the boys, Madiha and Olivia sat together for their breakfast on the morning of the Valentine's Ball.
"Mads, that's really not fair."
"I'm not gonna start smooching her halfway through the dance."
Peter ended up snorting at this beside her.
"And she's not yours to claim either," Remus added with an amused smile as he drizzled chocolate sauce over his pancakes.
James seemed to straighten up at this, clearly remembering their long speech to him about how Lily was a person within her own right, and that she wasn't some sort of prize to be chased after. Feeling surer that he wasn't going to start another tantrum again, Madiha turned her attention to Olivia, who sat in front of her beside Sirius.
"Why don't you come and get ready with me and the girls today?"
Olivia's blue eyes darted down to the other end of the table, where sat Lily and Alice, suppressing a laugh at some antic of Marlene's. From her apologetic smile, she could tell that the girl really would like to have done so.
"I'd love to, but I'm getting ready with my roommates."
Madiha felt a little disappointed at this, she was sure this was the perfect opportunity to get the girls to properly spend time with Olivia, but she nodded understandingly, nevertheless.
"Maybe next time, then."
James turned to her with breadcrumbs around his mouth and she used her hand to clear them away.
"You need to help me with my hair, Mads."
"I accidentally cut my blazer when I was trimming away a thread the other day," Remus grinned sheepishly. "Can you mend it for me, please?"
"And can you help me pick out a tie, I've got two and I don't know which one to use," Peter spoke up. "Please."
Olivia was trying hard not to laugh by the time she turned to Sirius.
"Anything you need me for?"
"Nah, I'm good."
Madiha would bet her right leg that Sirius was going to run to her asking for help with something last minute.
