A little before 7 AM. Saturday, 8th September 1973"Aww, they look so cute!"
Her eyes shot open at the sound of Dorcas cooing over hers and Sirius' sleeping figures, with Frank standing off to the side watching the boys' staircase.
Andrew Johnson's voice sounded from nearby. "Wood is not going to be happy."
Realisation dawned on Madiha. They had Quidditch practice today.
She nudged Sirius, trying to get him to move his cheek from on top of her head, but he barely budged.
"Sirius? Mads?"
Madiha watched sheepishly as James Potter descended the stairs, holding his brand-new broomstick at his side and stopping when he saw them sprawled across the window-seat, definitely not ready for practice. Sirius shifted beside her, and she knew that he had also woken up.
An amused smile was planted on Dorcas' face.
"They fell asleep here last night."
"Sirius, you prat!" James bellowed as he walked up to them. "I thought you went downstairs without me!"
The boy huffed, rubbing his eyes and sitting up roughly.
"Shove off. I just woke up."
"And you," the messy-haired boy turned on Madiha now. "Did you forget we had practice today?"
"What does it look like?" She muttered, shuffling towards the edge of the seat and standing up to try and gain her bearing.
"Well, you might want to hurry up," Frank advised the pair of groggy third years. "Wood's gonna be down in five minutes and he's going to throw a fit if you're not ready."
She offered Sirius a hand to pull him up.
"We're going."
And the two of them trudged up to their dormitories.
As much as it annoyed her, Madiha knew there was no time to shower, so she settled on washing her face and brushing her teeth as fast as she could, pulling on her Quidditch kit and securing her hair into a bun, not even bothering to detangle it. She gathered a shirt and a pair of trousers to take with her to change into once she showered after training ended.
"Mads?"
Lily was lying on her side, watching her hectic rushing around the room. Madiha spoke quickly as she grabbed her broomstick from beside her bed.
"No time to explain."
"But where were you before—"
She did not wait to listen, and the door shut behind her a bit louder than she had intended it to. There was a bit of guilt in her for leaving Lily like that, but she was not trying to get told off by the Gryffindor Captain first thing in the morning.
