I remember the day I first laid eyes on him like it was only yesterday. It’s funny to think how ignorant I was to the fact that this boy was going to play a huge roll in my life, well practically become my life. We had just moved to the town of Farmlingham Suffolk, England. Me, my mother and father were moving into a tiny two bedroom apartment building, I was only four.

Four years old to when I peaked the age of 14, I faced to many decisions that shouldn’t have been mine to face. I did things that no children should ever have the trouble of doing.

“Come on get out Hadley.” My mom insisted yanking me out of car seat. I clutched onto my blanket for dear life.

“Gentle with her, she is only four.” My dad very protectively said as I was thrown to the ground. I stumbled on my feet but managed to land up-right. It’s funny to think at this age my father was trying to protect me, when he soon would become the one that so badly hurt me.

I remember looking up at the brick apartment building. I stuck my thumb in my mouth and allowing my head to drop back as my eyes searched until it reached the top of the building. It was crumbling and didn’t look very well-kept, but this would become home.

“Hadley get out of the way!” She yelled making me move to the side as my father, carrying a box, almost ran into me. This was one of the only memoires I really had of my mother, until she left.

“Miss, are you the new tenet?” A tall stocky man with a friendly smile asked coming out of  the office asked. The office was more of a nice pretty house.

“Yes.” My mother smiled. The man looked down at me, a big grin on his face.

“I am John, I own this place, what’s your name?” He smiled at my mum.

“Rose, and this is our daughter Hadley.” My mum placed her hand on my shoulder.

“How old are you Hadley?” He asked bending down on her knees. I held up four fingers, too shy to talk.

“I have two boys, one is five and one is eight.” He smiled. “well since you guys seem busy, what if I just take Hadley until your done moving in, she can come meet Ed, my son, and my wife Imogen?” John offered.

“That’d be lovely.” My mum grinned, anything to get rid of me. “We will come pick her up in a hour or so.” My mum smiled.

“Or I can just bring her up after dinner or something, so you can settle in.” He grabbed my hand.

“Sounds good.” My mom grinned.

John led me into his home. He owned the apartment buildings, him and his wife. It was warm, and comforting, and soon became my home.

“Ed, I have someone I want you to meet!” He called and he led me to a back room. The door opened and that is when I saw the dorky looking little boy that would change my entire life.

He sat on his bed. He had a tuft of bright red hair falling all over his pale freckled cover face. He had thick rimmed glasses sitting on his little face. Across his chubby checks was a smile as we entered the room.

“Edward, this is Hadley.” John smiled. Ed got up and smiled at me, I smiled back at him, even though he was dorky looking he was the cutest thing that I have ever seen.

“Do you want to come meet my cat?” He smiled and put his hand out for me. I looked down at his hand that was waiting for me to grab it.

“Sure.” I grinned and grabbed his hand, and from that moment on we became irrespirable. It’s funny to think that, that little saying ‘Do you want to come meet my cat’ was what started our friendship.
