Egypt...Last Stop?
Alex ran into their new hotel room. Kitara followed close behind. They threw themselves onto the beds and panted in exhaustion.
"Gawd, it's hot as Hades here. Why in the Gods' names are we here? It must be more than a hundred degrees here." Alex whined while taking off her shirt to reveal a sport's top that looked more like a sport bra.
Kitara took off her shirt as well to show off her sport's top as well. "It's actually about hundred outside. Plus, wearing black all the time doesn't help."
"I know what'cha mean." Alex got up and walked over to the window and turned the air conditioner on full blast. After a few minutes the room chilled off. "Man, this thing works wonders. I wish I had one of these in my room back at home." Alex fell back onto her bed on the far side of the room closest to the door and farthest from the windows like she always did.
"Speaking of home, do you know how many times my mom called me today, while we were on the plane?" Kitara rolled onto her stomach to look at Alex.
Alex shrugged her shoulders. "When we got off the plane I had missed thirty some calls. Ten were from my ma, five were from my dad, two were from my grandparents, ten were from ten different friends and the last three were from three of my cousins. My friends and cousins all wanted to either know where I am, what I'm doing for vacation or when I'm going to call them. That was a hell of a lot of voicemail to go through. I can't wait to call them tonight to let them know what's going on. They'll be so mad."
Kitara laughed. "Same here, but my mom called me, like sixty times, no lie. She left like thirty messages!"
"Holy shit, no way!"
"Yeah, I stopped listening to them after the fifth message and just deleted the rest. The other thirty some calls were from my aunts, cousins and friends."
Alex let out a sigh. They weren't aloud to get off the plane when they landed in Scotland for half the supplies or Ireland for the other half. Alex really wanted to get a tour of one of the ancient castles. But at least she got to see a few aerial views of a couple of the castles and the flight attendants were nice enough to tell her the names of them. At least there was only one flight after this and it was for the ride home. No more air sickness for her.
Kitara sat up. "We better go to sleep early tonight. Tomorrow were going to a marketplace early in the morning than were going to go inside a pyramid to look at the tomb."
Alex was interested. "Oh, awesome, do they know whose tomb it was? Is there going to be a royal mummy there with its mummified servants on display?"
Kitara shook her head. "There are no mummies to display, there never was. When they uncovered the tomb there were no signs that anyone broke in and stole the mummy but there is no mummy. They say it looks like they were about to burry someone important there but changed there minds at the last minute or the mummy just got up and walked away. We'll see when we get there."
Alex laughed. "Yeah, it's night of the living dead." But she nodded her head. "Last night on the plane, did you notice anything weird?"
"Not really, why?"
"I could have sworn that I heard growling from under our chairs. And the other night at the hotel, I could hear purring from under your bed."
Kitara shook her head. "Now that you think about it, I did hear a little screech from the ceiling fan and a little sneeze from in the closet..."
The two girls looked at each other in horror. "Oh, no..."
The two girls leaned over the sides of their beds and pulled up the covers, under the beds stared back four sets of gold eyes.
Alex sat on the bed and folded her arms across her chest. "Alright you guys. File out."
One by one the little creatures filed out from under the beds. First out came the furry little black bat named Sheik. Following close behind Sheik was a little black and white tiger cub named Leo. Following Leo was a pure black wolf cub named Fang.
When no one followed Fang, Kitara looked under Alex's bed and stared at the set of floating gold eyes. "Hey, come out from under there."
With a little sneeze out came the little silver dragon with a gray mane that went from the middle of his forehead, between his horns, down his neck, and across his back to the tip of his tail.
Alex looked down at the little dragon. "Drake, why were you guys hiding from us?"
Drake looked up at the girls who now sat on Kitara's bed. "Qu?"
After the little creatures tackled the hell out of Alex and Kitara it was time for bed. With Fang in Alex's arms and Drake lying curled up on her pillow. Leo draped across Kitara's legs and Sheik hanging from the ceiling fan. All slept still and soundly.
