Civilization! Well, Sort of...

As Alex and Kitara rounded over the next dune they could see a city, more like an oversized trading market. The horse pulled up to a stop as Alex hopped down and then helped Kitara to slide down.

Alex readjusted her backpack on her shoulder. "Alright beast, go on home." She patted the horse on his nose than turned him to go back the way they came.

As Alex and Kitara turned to walk toward the city the horse turned right back around and pushed Kitara as a playful gesture.

Kitara whirled and looked at the horse. "Why don't you go home?"

The horse shook his head. Guess that he didn't want to go home.

"Well ya can't stay wit us." Kitara said crossly.

The horse just nodded his head.

Alex sighed as they were right on the edge of the city. "Whatever. Let him be. We've got to talk."

"We sure do. How the hell did we wind up here?"

If you hadn't guessed yet, they were in "Yu-Gi-Oh!", again. How they got there is still a mystery to them.

"I don't know. You're the one who said that this sort of shit only happens at home. We are so gonna be in trouble when the guys find out."

FYI, the "guys" are the four ghosts that haunt Kitara and Alex. Usually they come after the girl's when they've gotten into trouble.

Kitara shivered at the thought of their favorite guys and the tongue lashing they would get later on if they found out. And they always found out. Man, were they in for an earful. "Great..."

"I know that you were expecting this but, it is your fault." Alex stated without emotion.

Kitara sighed. "Yeah yeah, I know..."

The girls walked back into the market with a tall looming horse following close behind. The girls had strapped their packs onto the dusty saddle so they could rest their aching backs seeing as how they had long scrapes from shoulder to mid-back from when they were dragged into the sarcophagus.

They didn't get too far into the village before a middle-aged man walked up to one of the men wearing the awkward skirts and holding a long pointed spear. The guard eyed the girls as the man spoke then nodded his head. Calling the rest of his men he started to walk over to the two girls and horse.

"Hey, you two! Halt!" He called and the girls froze in place.

The two girls stared at the tall men in skirts.

The man shifted his spear forward. "Where did you get that horse?" He eyed their strange clothes as he spoke.

The two girls looked to each other and then back to Beast. In unison they stated, "He followed us from outside."

"It did, did it?" He called to his men. "Take these two as prisoners. They're working for that bandit Bakura."

The girls looked to each other. Kitara was a little upset. "Excuse me? You gotta be kidding me. We didn't do nothin' and we ain't no thieves.

The other guards stepped forward and grabbed the girls by their arms. Breaking away they split apart in two directions.

Alex smacked the horse on the ass and shouted, "Run Beast!"

As the horse galloped through the village and out the way they came in, the girls started running through the city. They ducked around corners and dogged the guards left and right, nearly getting caught every time and barely escaping. Finally they ran into a small ally with tall walls.

Alex huffed and waited for Kitara's asthma to calm down. "We. Gotta get. Outta here."

Kitara waited till she completely caught her breath. "Yeah." She looked around where clothes lines were hanging up all over the place and long cloths hung from each one. "Al, give me a lift will ya?"

Alex looked up at the cloths and got Kitara's idea. "K." Lacing her fingers together she used her hands as a foothold as Kitara placed her boot down and sprung up to grab two long cloths off the lines.

The two wrapped themselves up as best they could then calmly walked out of the ally and on around and away from the guards. On their way around they spotted huge walls in the center of the village. They walked up to the one side and noticed some very large doors which on closer inspection showed to be palace doors.

Before they could think of what to do next the guards had caught up to them.

"Hey! You two!" It was the head guard again.

Alex and Kitara stopped in their tracks and kept their heads down so the men couldn't see their faces from under the cloth.

The head guard eyed their clothes then spoke. "Have you seen people wearing odd clothes around here? We're looking for a couple of thieves that may be working with the bandits."

The two shook their heads.

The guards turned away and as the girls turned to walk in the opposite direction the head guard turned back and noticed the boots under the cloths. "Guards! Capture them!"

Before the girls could start running the men were all over them, trying to knock them down. They fought back the best they could but in the end, after all the damage they caused to the men, they were captured and tied up. Then they were dragged away through the palace gates.
