Maybe it's true that when love strikes you, you become a reflection of the person that you love. You start picking up their habits, expressions, even, and they emulate yours. You begin to exhibit similar traits, because your whole being becomes attuned to each other. And most importantly, the very love that binds you to that person manifests itself in the joy that you radiate, especially in your smiles. In most cases, this truth is considered to be such an endearing effect. After all, isn't love supposed to be something that inspires psychotherapy? So we proudly show the world that we're in love by flaunting how we mirror the person that we're in love with.
Unless you're one of the highest paid actresses in Korea. Then it becomes a game of hide-and-seek.
As she walked to the balcony to contemplate on whether she should do another VLive after the launch of her new endorsement, Bo Young recalled that time when In Guk sang that song to her back in Jeju. When things were simple and all she had to do was laugh at his antics so he wouldn't get upset, and pretend that he didn't just give her a mini heart attack every time he forgot that the BTS camera was rolling and he was being his unpretentious self who couldn't care less if he got caught in the act of being affectionate towards her.
Let me show you love, oh, I don't pretend
Stick by my side even when the world is givin' in.
I need somebody who can love me at my worst.
Ugh, that song. It would usually make her heart flutter, but for now it was the root of her predicament. Not for any reason other than that at this very moment, it wasn't exactly making her such a good reflection of the man she was in love with.
How could it, when she was getting herself ready to dial his number to tell him that she was still having second thoughts on playing his song on her impending VLive boradcast? Because as it would seem, she was terrified of meeting the public with her untested skills on hiding a proud girlfriend face.
She could already imagine how sad In Guk's face would be when she broke the news, with that 24/7 pout and his frowny eyebrows while saying 'gwenchana' in the most unconvincing tone. It wasn't supposed to, but just the thought of it made her giggle. Because while everyone would agree that he was a brilliant actor, he really wasn't the type who could disguise his sentiments in real life.
But wasn't it one of the million things that she loved about him? How he always showed his true intentions and spared her the guessing game. How he was always so transparent and honest to a fault. And at some point she found herself mirroring his sincere disposition and that was how the big circle they had been going around had finally caught its tail.
Yet here she was, about to call her In Guk Oppa, with some potentially sad news. But before she could hit the call button, her phone started to vibrate in her hand and his name popped up on the screen.
"Yeoboseo," she answered promptly. And when she heard him giggling, she just knew that he was going to tease her for how hastily she picked up.
"Do you miss me that bad?" He snickered, only proving her right.
"I was just about to call you."
"Wae? Is everything okay?"
The sudden change in his tone made her feel even worse. How is this man so quick to pick up on her emotional state?
