Everyone watched as the hundreds of nervous, excited, and well- dressed police officers walked down the aisle of the Madison Square Garden that had been habilitated to hold the police academy graduation ceremony. The first female police commissioner, Claudia Benzinni, sitting beside her husband, retired detective Richard Benzinni, watched proudly as the new recruits walked down the aisle preparing to go on that stage and become official New York City police officers. Both looked especially proud when one specific name was called out of the loudspeakers.
"Allison Benzinni," A loud audience clap was heard, especially loud compared to the rest of the claps the other recruits had received, but that wasn't because of her being the commissioner's daughter, it was because of the large family that was in the audience cheering her on.
Jackson Benzinni, his wife Mindy, both doctors at Mayflower West hospital, and their two boys Jamie and Peter. Sitting beside them Ellie Benzinni, New York City detective and her ten-year-old daughter Olivia and just a row behind Parker Benzinni, New York City Police Sergeant, his wife Eve, an attorney at one of the most prestigious law firms in the city, their seven-year-old daughter and four-year-old twins all cheered loudly as Allison, the youngest daughter of Claudia and Richard Benzinni became an official police officer.
After the ceremony, they all went to have lunch at their childhood home, where they would usually have a family lunch or dinner a few times a month.
"So, the 31st precinct, Allison, are you excited?" Richard looked at his youngest daughter, who sat right to his side on the table. She seemed happy yet nervous at the same time.
"I'm not too keen on Parker being my sergeant, but I hope he'll at least give me a good training officer" She glanced at her brother, who was right in front of her feeding Maia, his youngest twin daughter, what was left on her plate.
"Well, I'm looking forward to being the boss of my little sister," Parker laughed, passing the mash potatoes to her eldest daughter.
"Aunt Ali, I thought you said we should never let a boy be our boss" The little girl, who looked just like her dad yet surprisingly more beautiful, looked at her aunt, asking for an explanation.
"And you shouldn't, Alex, not in your day-to-day but at work you have to listen to your boss no matter if he is a boy or a girl." Her niece looked at her with a funny face, not understanding. "It's like at school you have to listen to your teacher no matter if he's a boy or a girl."
"Alex never listens to her teachers no matter if they are boys or girls," Parker smiled, kissing his daughter's head with love. He truly was the best dad in the world.
Allison had looked up to her siblings all her life. Jackson was an amazing surgeon, truly great, and Ellie and Parker, thirty-seven- year-old twins, had always paved the way for Allison, who had come as a surprise to the family nine years after the twins had been born.
The Benzinni family was united, they were a strong, loving family who always had each other's back. Of course, they fought, especially about cases they were all involved in, but they were one of the most loving and caring families you would ever meet.
The lunch was quick yet entertaining. Soon enough, Claudia had to get back to her office, and everyone else had to go back to work. They kissed their kids, who would stay home with grandpa, and soon enough, Parker and Allison were on the way to their precinct.
