Keep moving forward

"Olivia, please watch the twins one second," Eve asked her while she quickly put Alex's hair into ponytails.

Ellie and Olivia had now been staying with Eve and the girls for three weeks. After the funeral, Eve decided it was time to keep Parker in her heart forever but pull forward for her girls, and Ellie was being a great help. Managing four-year-old twins was a real race for money, and even though Eve was trying to adjust as quickly as possible to being a single parent Ellie's and even Olivia's help was being incredible.

Allison tried to help as much as she could. She would buy groceries and take the girls out on walks when she was off work, although that week, she hadn't been around the house at all because she and Charlie were on an undercover operation.

"I'm so done with this operation," Allison complained for the sixth time, throwing herself on the dirty sofa she had been sleeping on all week.

"Hey, if you're done, I'll just look for another rookie. I assure you any of them will be running at the chance of an undercover op so soon in their careers," Charlie kept on writing her notes from last night down in the notepad.

"Sorry, I'm just tired and want to see my family."

"Ali, I know, but this has to be over soon. There have been 15 reported rapes in 5 days, all in this same club, it couldn't have just stopped suddenly."

"What if they were just tourists passing by and aren't here anymore?"

"Detective Jameson said if we didn't find anything by Saturday night, it would be over, it's two more nights, and at least I'm having fun. I thought you were too."

And, of course, she was. Charlie and her only had to spend all night in the club dancing around and having fun together. They were having a blast even though every single word spoken was heard by three officers in a truck parked behind the back entrance.

"You know I'm also having fun. I mean, if we could have actual alcohol, it would be even better, but I understand why our judgment shouldn't be tampered with."

"Glad you understand," Charlie mocked her, throwing the notepad at her. "Check to see if I'm missing something."

Allison pretended to read something and looked over at Charlie, who was getting ready to have a shower.

"Excuse me miss training officer, you're missing something really important."

"What? Are you serious? I read over them twice" She ran in her towel, grabbing the notepad back and reading quickly through her notes.

"You forgot to write about the amazing woman you danced with all night."

"You idiot," she threw the notepad back at Allison, and after pulling her tongue out at her like a three-year-old, she ran back to the bathroom.

Soon enough, Ali heard the water running and decided to give Jackson a call to see how he was doing, but to her surprise, it wasn't him who picked up the phone.

"Good morning, brother," she sang into the phone.

"It's me, Aunt Allison." She quickly recognized her youngest nephew's voice but was puzzled because she was nearly 100% sure that middle school had started about three hours earlier.

"Why aren't you in school?" She questioned him.

"We had a trip to the NYPD headquarters, but Dad didn't want me to go, so I'm just at home doing some homework."

"Emm... How come?" Allison could kind of figure out her brother's reasoning for not letting Peter go on the trip but thought the measure was a bit too much.
