Charlie
Allison and Charlie were back on the job, the first shift back, Charlie got into work a little bit earlier and went to speak to Sergeant Wells about changing partners, but she didn't like the idea.
"María, just pair me up with anyone else, I... I don't work well with Benzinni" Charlie and María had had a short relationship when Charlie first transferred into the precinct. It hadn't ended badly, and they were good friends.
"You know if I change Benzinni because of a personal request, I have to inform the captain, and you'll both be questioned."
"Can't you just change us so she gets to know another officer? I don't know, María, please, do it for me." Charlie didn't like using their old relationship to get anything, but she had to change partners, she wasn't focused when riding with Allison.
"Tell me why."
"Why what?" She knew what she wanted her to confess, but she wasn't going to, she hadn't fallen for any of her partners. She didn't like being that kind of person.
"Why do you want to change partners? Every report I've read just indicates that you guys work great together, you are clean, you follow the rules, and because of your ages and looks, you two make an amazing pairing for undercover work."
"I just feel like I'm not teaching her like I should."
"I can't change you without giving an official report Charlotte," she said with a frown on her face, María wanted to help her friend, she had just been ascended and wanted her officers to trust her and to count on her, but she couldn't do that favor for Charlie because she would have to reorganize everything and change a partnership that probably didn't want to change.
"Well, that's great" Charlotte nervously bit her lip, turning around to look out of the window where she saw Allison laughing with some of their co-workers.
"Charlie, if there's a problem, have a talk with Benzinni, she seems like a great girl, and you two seemed to be working great. I'm sure you can sort it out, and if by the end of the shift you still think there's no solution, I'll put in your request and try to get it sorted without getting too much attention, but the name Benzinni on any report will be looked at with much more precision than any other."
"Yeah, thanks, María." she smiled at her friend and left the room, going into the locker room where she ran into Allison, who was changing.
"Hey," Charlie saw how nervous Allison was to see her. Since they got the news they were to go back to work two days earlier, they hadn't talked even though they could. "How come you were in with María?"
"Just had to talk something out. Get changed quickly, I'll be waiting in the car," And with that, she left as quickly as she had entered, leaving a really confused Allison buttoning up her shirt.
The week went by with barely any conversation between them. They stopped meeting out of work, and when they spoke at work, it was only about the work itself. Charlie was doing her best to not be tented by Allison's confused face, she knew she should have given her an explanation, but she knew if she looked at her, she wouldn't be able to explain it. But Allison wasn't going to be patient much longer.
Charlie was eating a large pizza all by herself when an insistent banging on her door made her slowly go for her gun, but before she could unlock the safe, she turned around.
"Open up right now," Allison's pissed voice made her breathe in deeply. She knew her partner, she knew it wouldn't take her long to look for an explanation to her attitude the last few days, but she didn't expect it to be at her house on their day off.
