"Just do it, you stupid idiot, or I'll do it for you."
Adrian grins as I give him a small shove towards the Goblet of Fire. He stumbles forward, the slip of paper in his hands shaking slightly. It's early in the morning, and the entrance hall is already flooded with students. I sit next to the rest of Slytherin House, who, like always, are all grouped together.
"Eager to enter my name, are we?" Adrian jokes, arching an eyebrow in amusement. "You really want me to die, don't you?"
"That's only half true," I say with a grin as I give him another small shove, "and I'm just being a supportive sister. So, I'm advising you enter your name right now, because it would be very embarrassing if you chickened-out at the last second."
Adrian playfully rolls his eyes as he raises the slip of parchment in his hand up into the air. The Slytherins clap and cheer as he steps into the aging line. I hold my breath as Adrian lifts the slip of parchment over the Goblet. It feels like minutes until he suddenly lets go, the parchment slowly fluttering down into the goblet. The students all around clap and cheer.
"Well, what do you think?" Adrian asks as he takes a seat beside me.
"I think half the girls in Ravenclaw just fell in love with you," I answer, gesturing to the group of Ravenclaw girls huddled in the corner of the room, staring at Adrian admirably. Adrian wrinkles his nose in distaste. "It's too bad you don't like girls."
"I like girls," Adrian defends, "just... not in that way." He finishes awkwardly as his eyes meet Terrance's. He gives him a small smile and wave before turning back to me.
"So, what about you?" Adrian then asks, wiggling his eyebrows. "Anyone you're interested in?"
I shake my head. "No. I think I'm going to remain single throughout my entire Hogwarts career, and I am completely fine with that." My eyes linger over to Malfoy for a moment before I add, "Besides, my year doesn't offer the best guys."
"I can tell," Adrian says, laughing. He inches closer to me. "Well, you're going to have to find someone soon, unless you want to look like an idiot in front of the entire school during the Yule Ball."
"I'll just ask Blaise," I say, shrugging.
Adrian clicks his tongue. "Now, that's no fun. Besides, who's to say he won't ask that Weasley girl?" He gestures to Blaise, who's staring intently at Ginny Weasley. She's sitting with a group of Gryffindor girls, one of them including Hermione Granger.
I scoff. "He won't, trust me. He doesn't have the guts."
"You're no fun, Y/n Pucey." Adrian says, leaning back in his seat as he watches Cedric Diggory enter the room. The Hufflepuffs cheer so loud at his presence that I have to cover my ears. I think I hear Daphne, along with practically every other girl in the room, audibly sigh.
"There goes pretty boy Diggory," I hear Blaise say a few seats down. I hear people snicker as a group of Hufflepuff boys shove Cedric towards the Goblet. He smiles (which earn a couple more sighs) as he raises his hand and puts his name in the Goblet of Fire. The room erupts into small bits of applause as he goes to return to his seat.
"I wouldn't be surprised if he gets picked," Daphne says. I jump when I see she's sitting right next to me.
"Merlin's beard, can you teleport, Greengrass?" Adrian asks in bewilderment as Daphne inches closer towards me.
"Yes, I can," she says matter of factly. She leans forward in her seat as we watch a Ravenclaw enter her name into the goblet. "Who's entered their name in?"
"Most of Durmstrang has," I tell her. "I think Beauxbatons has the least amount of participants, and Adrian here just entered his name in." Adrian goes pink at the mention of his name as Daphne swings her attention towards him.
