On week two of the voyage to Fontain, you started to get bored with your day to day tasks. You wanted to confront your boss about it but like hell he'd do much, after all he couldn't give a damn whether you were enjoying your work or if you were bored.
You sat on the bow of the boat, swinging your legs back and forth with a frown on your face for the past few days this was your idle place. Whenever you didn't have to take care of Mochi, he stayed idle in your room playing with toys and entertaining himself while you had nothing to do but sit here.
You held no jobs in the boats crew, you didn't know how to sail or what made the boat do so which left you with nothing but daydreaming to do. "Um..miss" came a voice from behind you, it was that same fatui girl from last week, whom brought you the makeup from Signora "Are you here to tell me Balladeer requests my presence?"
The girl shook her head, "N-no i just have a question.." she scratched her arm with a gloved hand "I wanted to ask what using a delusion is like..?" at this point you fully turned around to speak with her rather then just facing the ocean while trying to hold a conversation.
"Can i have your name first?" the diplomat nodded, straightening her back and putting on a stern expression "My name is Palevyy" you tilted your head "Isn't that Fawn in Snezhnayan?" she looked down a bit "Yeah.." she looked back up and met your gaze as you peered at her through a mask.
"You want to know what a delusion is like yeah? How should i put this.." you brought a hand to your chin, "I am the exception when it comes to my delusion, mine doesn't suck out my life force like it might for my peer's" Palevyy seem intrigued by the mention of a delusion since her expression seemed almost dumbfounded.
"If i take into consideration how much it wear's down the human body then i would assume delusions are dangerous to even the strongest of the fatui who are not like myself" the girl swallowed hard, though she was fearful she was certainly interested. "I don't have the exact details on delusions but i'm sure that's enough info for you"
Palevyy nodded with a smile, "And how long until this voyage meets its end?" you asked, "I think a day or two" you sighed. "Also one more thing.." Palevyy fiddled with her gloves "Everyone is wondering since last week, are you perhaps..friends with the Balladeer or perhaps more..?" she stood a little confused as you started to burst out laughing.
"Are you kidding? Haha! I'm nothing more then a friend of his! That bastard could never.." the diplomat stood there awkwardly as you finished giggling. "I'm..I'm truly sorry..haha.." to keep your mask from falling off your face you had to hold it there in place, "Please don't tell him i asked you that.." Palevyy begged.
"Y'know, you seem alright miss Palevyy" you teased, "P-please! He'll throw me off the boat if he finds out i asked such an unprofessional thing!" she flailed as she grew more and more red faced with embarrassment. He panic made you laugh, "you..you're enjoying my panic.." you grinned. "I'm bored and you strolled up to me to strike a conversation yes?"
"I guess..yeah.." you leaned back a bit, the ocean spray lightly hitting your backside "Then you served yourself as entertainment on a silver platter, i like to tease people over the smallest things but i assure you i won't tell Balladeer a thing~" you purred as you relaxed. "Save for the formalities, I'll let you call me Y/n instead of my alias"
Palevyy gulped, "Really..i just came here to ask about delusions..i really shouldn't..you're still my peer in strength and rank.." the shy fatui member scratched her arm again subconsciously "Consider it this way then, i am but a woman trying to be friendly and it just so happens i would like to be your friend. Is that so bad?"
Palevyy softly smiled, "I'm afraid that breaches my work ethic, sorry.." the diplomat bowed in respect before taking a swift exit. Y/n sighed, not disappointed nor surprised "You don't seem any better at making friends then i ever was" a few heads turned as that voice arose above the usual chatter within the crew.
"Hmph at least i try" she retorted bitterly, the harbinger rolling his eyes "you've been out here all day, don't you have things to do?" he questioned. "I did that stuff this morning, I'm out here because i'm bored since there is borderline nothing to do on this boat" she leaned against the boats rail with her chin in her palm.
He kept silent, but opened his mouth slightly every now and then as if he wanted to say something but not in earshot of anyone else. "Your eyes look like the ocean during night time y'know?" she spouted her nonsense in boredom, "Do they?" he inquired while crossing his arms "Hm..?" she seemed a bit surprised but smiled.
"Yeah, they're sorta a dark blue but have some purple hiding in there somewhere" he looked out at the darkening sky, a nearly invisible smile gracing his face. "Your eyes are.." he thought for a moment, picturing her face without her mask on "Ugh what am i saying" he slammed his palm against forehead.
"You were so close! Try one more time" he raised his middle finger at her, "That's not going to discourage me, come on" she urged him to follow her back into the cabin where their two quarters resided. He stared at her as she left, awaiting him to follow like some animal "stupid girl.." he mumbled to himself, refusing to follow until eyes were no longer on him.
"..why must you toy with me like this.."
The ocean forever blue
While in your i eyes i swoon,
Falling for the other underneath the moon.
