Secretive (Scaramouche x reader)

Struggle

The night was calm, most of it atleast..Mochi had moved in the middle of the night to lay by your head when you started to toss and turn.

You eventually had to get up, Scara still slept undisturbed though he seemed to notice the lack of warmth when you moved away and Mochi followed.

It was cold so you shivered a bit when you got up and retrieved the vial of medicine from where you left it on the table before quietly wandering over to the door and leaving for a moment.

You went to your room with Mochi hot on your tail, the vial in your hand as you entered your bathroom and got hydrocodone, or a strong pain killer.

You dug some tweezers out of a drawer and carefully coated a pill in the liquid before letting the excess drip off before putting it in her mouth and swallowing with what little liquid was coating the pill.

Mochi rubbed your leg as you took a few deep breaths to calm your racing heart and fuzzy mind. "Tastes about as terrible as usual.." you grumbled and closed the vial before setting it down and holding your head in your hands for a moment.

"Honestly.." you grumbled and swallowed hard again, "fucks sake.." you spit into the sink before leaning back and coughing.

You stayed in the bathroom for a while longer, almost falling asleep on your feet as you leaned against the doorframe. Though you jumped when the door opened and Mochi ran over and greeted a sleepy Scaramouche at the door.

He picked up the cat before walking further in and seeing you almost drunk on your feet as you tried to walk over. "I'll be fine- this always happens.." you muttered and he caught you as you fell forward, catching you one handed with Mochi in his other arm.

"Everytime you take your medicine, this happens? Does it help you sleep" he asked and you nodded, "then why not take sleeping medicine?". You sighed and took a few deep breaths, "it helps..with other stuff that normal medicine can't.."

He narrowed his eyes and set Mochi down before carefully picking you up and carried you back to bed, since you were too unsteady on your feet to walk back even if he helped.

"I want a full explanation in the morning" he stated sternly as he set you down and Mochi hopped up beside you. "But i don't..-" you mumbled and he shook his head, "its an order" he hummed.

"Now go back to sleep" he hummed and laid down beside you again, pulling you close after getting under the blankets. "Well..i don't think i could stay awake if..- if i wanted to.." you mumbled with a half asleep tone, your words slurring slightly.

"Good, sleep" he repeated and rubbed your back until you dozed off into slumber.

The moment he felt you fall asleep, her closed his eyes and fell asleep to your breathing and Mochi's faint purring.

A few hours later, the sun peeked over the ocean horizon. Making it blindingly shimmer, Scara awoke to your coughing as you rolled away from him and sighed.

"Y/n, hey.." he called softly and you rolled over to look at him, "ah, hello..good morning" you greeted with a hoarse voice.

"Are you sick?" He asked softly and sat up a bit, "no..i just have to take the medicine without water..so it hurts my throat, makes it dry and stuff" you sighed.
