"A single smile makes a lot of difference" ~Huda

She woke up feeling dizzy, her head was spinning and she is seeing double, it wasn't really unusual as it has happened before. Groaning, she stood up and went to the bathroom to have a very hot bath careful to use a very soft sponge as she has very sensitive pale skin

After bathing she wore an oversize hoodie and leggings and a pair of fluffy white socks before walking out. Exhausted and tired she laid on the bed and covered herself before letting sleep take over

*

He hadn't seen her all morning, usually she comes downstairs and tries to help but she hadn't, confused he moved towards her room, the door was closed and he slid it open doing salaam. There she was asleep surrounded by the comforter. He closed the door after switching off the light and slipped out

Going back downstairs, he called his elder sister who was meant to be in Kaduna that day. She picked up after the third ring

"As Salaamu alaykum ukhti" he greeted "are you on your way yet?"

"I am Muhammad, I'll be arriving in less than an hour" she replied

"Did you bring what I requested?" He asked

"Yes, I brought it along, how is she?"

"Better, she's asleep" he whispered

"Better, look I'll call you back, Hanan is crying" she said and hung up not waiting for a reply

Ahsan had three elder ones, Ayyaz, Suwaid and Zynab... All settled and married, successful in their various fields, they were happier now and better.

*

Nahar came out of the room moving slowly to the parlor where she heard noise. Seated on the couch was a woman while Ahsan was playing with an adorable baby girl and a girl of about 5, she didn't know he was married or that he had kids not that she knew anything about him in the first place. The baby girl was the one who noticed her first and she pointed immediately pouting. All attention turned to her and she was surprised to see Ahsan smiling, it really is beautiful

The beautiful woman smiled at her standing up, she walked towards her with a grin "as Salaamu alaykum, I'm Zynab, Muhammad's sister, you must be Nahar, its nice to meet you"

Nahar looked confused, who is Muhammad, she looked at Ahsan with furrowed eyebrows and he nodded, his name is Muhammad?

"Nice to meet you too" she whispered looking down, dragging the sleeves of her clothes and hugging her body tighter

"You are not fully Nigerian are you?" Zynab asked. Nahar nodded "okay, meet my kids Hannan and Huda"

Nahar smiled "they are adorable"

"Thank you" she replied before turning to her brother "Hammad, I'm going to my room upstairs with Nahar to settle in, are you okay with the girls"
He nodded giving a thumbs up "have fun"

Zynab dragged Nahar upstairs with her to a random room also painted white. There were two huge suitcase there already in the middle of the room and the room was as cold as the rest of the house

"Allah, I'm soo exhausted, the flight here was super tiring" Zynab said flopping on the bed with an exhausted sigh. Nahar stood in the middle of the room awkwardly hugging herself. Zynab looked up again and smiled "come and sit down, sorry about that, 2 kids tend to wear a person down" Nahar nodded and moved to where she indicated "how is it? I mean you staying here?"

Nahar shrugged, she isn't really a talkative by nature "it is nice Alhamdulillah"

"How are you feeling?"

"Alhamdulillah, thank you for asking" Nahar replied looking down and playing with her long slender fingers, a nervous act she had developed days ago

"I brought you somethings, they aren't really much but they'll at least be okay to stop you from wearing Hammads clothes" Zynab explained sitting up, she had gotten raid of her headtie and her hair was falling to her shoulder, it is light brown different from her brothers black hair and not as curly but long, very long

She caught Nahar watching her and flashed her a smile "are you excited to see what I got for you?"
Nahar shrugged and nodded. Zynab opened one of the huge pink suitcases revealing clothes "gowns, skinnies, trousers, skirts, shirts etcetera but I didn't really have time for atampas so this will have to do the work"

Nahar was touched, all this for her, a girl they had found on the streets of Kaduna, she was shocked and surprised, she never felt so cared for before and it made her teary "thank you"

Zynab smiled and shrugged "you are welcome, it really is no big deal, we know what it is like"
Nahar was confused but it seemed that's all Zynab was ever going to say about it "come on now, try one of this out let me see if it really is the accurate measurement" she picked out a simple yellow gown and moved her away "go and try it out"
She nodded and did as told, she wore the beautiful simple yellow gown paired with the nice brown veil, it looked a little big on her but that is because of her malnourished body and not because of anything else. She slowly moved out of the room and stood in front of Zynab who was on her phone, she smiled at her and gave her a thumbs up "a little more weight and it will be perfect, why are you soo pale?"

She looked down playing with her fingers "that's how it has always been"

"Ohhh!!!! Okay then, come on let's go downstairs, I'm hungry" she stood up and grabbed Nahars wrist who flinched at the contact and led her out of the room and down the staircase, her body was already getting used to the cold temperature of the house due to the entire house being that way and Zynab didn't seem to mind the temperature either
They found Ahsan in the kitchen with the Huda, the 5 year old eating rice, stew and chicken "mama" the kid shouted hugging her mother

"Huda, don't shout Hannan is asleep" Ahsan said in a small voice

"Sorry" the kid whispered and paused when she noticed an additional presence in the room "hello"
Nahar looked down at her with a smile "hello"

She could feel everyone watching them and it made her nervous "my name is Huda"

"Nahar" Nahar said kneeling down at the kid, her sister would have been her age now, she shrugged the memory she had thrown to the farthest part of her mind off and smiled at the gorgeous girl in front of her, who oozed of innocence, who didn't know what the world was in now

"Nice to meet you, come, Uncle Hammad cooked" she dragged Nahar with her to the table and sat her down before coming with a plate and spoon

"Thank you" Nahar said smiling

She smiled back "is okay, I got you to smile, uncle Hammad tells me a single smile makes a lot of difference so I try to make people smile. You are really pretty when you do"

"Thank you Huda" a smile, she has forgotten when last she genuinely gave one

Huda and the rest continued to talk while she watched them. A family. The word brought tears to her eyes
