As he said those words, those very words that I oddly wanted to hear, I just stared at him with tears rolling down my cheeks. 'I want you'.... He wanted me..... A handsome Sky Person who could've gotten any beautiful woman wanted me. But did I want him back...?
He kissed my forehead and then rested his forehead against mine, looking into my eyes. What was I to say about this? What was I to do? I closed my eyes and thought for a moment before opening them again. My heart ached and I pulled an arm free and put my hand on Dustin's cheek. "I want..." I trailed off, what DID I want...? Did I want Dustin? Did I want freedom? Home? Adventure?
Something stirred in my heart, making it flutter. I pressed myself a little closer to Dustin, seeking comfort and safety. "I want home... I want safety.... I want adventure.... I want love... I want you...." I whispered, closing my eyes again. I felt him hug me a little more, making me feel safe.
He moved his forehead away from mine and tilted his head to kiss me. I opened my eyes and wrapped my arms around his neck, beating him to the kiss. He kissed me back, holding me in his arms.
We stayed that way for a few long moments, our kiss deepening a little. His tongue had slipped into my mouth and I accepted it. Was this love?
We broke away from the kiss and hugged again, my crying ceased. I rested my head against his chest now, just hugging him. "I love you... Don't forget that ever..." He whispered to me. I nodded and then pulled away. I walked away a few feet and then knelt down to pick up the bag of jerky and the coins. I straightened up and walked back to Dustin, handing him the bag of jerky.
Dustin took the jerky and glanced at the bag in my hand, frowning slightly. "Where did you get that?" He asked, moving his gaze from the bag to my face in question. I glanced down at the bag of coins and then back at him. "Oh.... This?" I say after a moment, lifting the bag up slightly. Something gnawed at me to not tell him, but something else told me to tell him as well. Dustin nodded slowly, giving me a serious look. "It's..... It's a bag...." I said slowly, putting it back down to my side. "I see that, Roe... But you haven't told me where you got it." Dustin replied, watching me. I glance to the trees behind him before looking back at him and answering. "A man on horseback came and gave it to me." I said, Dustin staring at me with disbelief. "A random person gave you that bag for no reason at all...." He said, still staring at me. I shifted my weight from foot to foot. "He tossed me the bag after giving me a letter....." I said, trailing off. Dustin raised a brow. "AND.....?" He asked, never letting his gaze break from me or waver. "Mmmm... And he asked me if I was an assassin." I replied, feeling sheepish now. I heard a groan come from him and saw him drop the bag of jerky to the ground and put his face in his hands for a moment. "You DIDN'T do what I thought you did?!" He exclaimed looking at me now, I open my mouth to say something but he bent down and picked up the jerky before walking off. "Never mind, I don't want to know!"
I sighed and walked after him, thinking about what all had happened. "Heroine of Theirone... Ride on...." A soft voice whispered in my ears. I stopped and turned around, expecting to see someone there. There was no one in sight. I shudder and turn around to follow Dustin quickly.
