"Hello Mrs. Blue. Welcome to Senior Village. If you need the Government Building, it is a five minute hover journey away," the recorded voice stated as the glass doors slid open.
The Seniors Village was basically a massive dome that covered a whole town. It was one of the most expensive places to live in Acacia. The trick, you had to be a Senior to live there and a Senior was one of the toughest positions to achieve. The youngest Senior in Acacia was about 25 but his father was Logan Firth was the Head Senior, so she suppose it didn't really count. A lady dresses in white, stands up from behind the glass desk. She places one finger on the immaculate surface and drags it soundlessly across as she walked towards Acacia.
"Good afternoon, Miss. Blue. Senior Jess will see you in five minutes," the lady said. Acacia peered at her name tag.
"Uh, thanks, Jorja?" Acacia said but it came out more like a question. Jorja was still smiling with her teeth, it was becoming even more creepy by every second that passed. Something was wrong, she could feel it. "Is there something wrong Jorja?"
"No," she sneers, her lips split into a dangerous smile. "Have fun, I hope I see you in one piece afterwards."
"Um, thanks?" Acacia padded towards the set of double doors to her right and pushed them wide open. Her breath was taken away. The room was lined with gold and silver gems, the door handle was cold to touch and at a first glance it looked like crystal. "Whoa," Acacia whispered to no one in particular. She walked forward further in awe when a beam of light crashed down, trapping her. Acacia screamed out in fright and stumbled backwards only to be burnt by the other side of the tube. It was made of pure, hot light, Acacia could feel the heat radiating off the whiteness from where she was but she wasn't very far from the light which seemed to be closing in on her. "Help!" she shouted, "help me! Please!"
A chuckle came from the ceiling and Acacia's head whipped up and she scanned the perimeter to find nothing, nada, zilch. "No one is going to help you Acacia Willow Blue. Hah, your name is ironic. The founder of Acacia died a very painful death. He burned actually, we all cried."
"Who's there?" Acacia cried, "how do you know my full name? Middle names are confidential!"
"There is much you don't know about this world and much you do but one thing I know for sure is that you are dangerous."
"What!" Acacia shrieked, "dangerous? I'm sorry but I have no idea what you're talking about!" Acacai began shaking in fear. Whoever was talking knew things about her that no one knew, not even her parents. When you turn fourteen, you pick a middle name and that was to be used only in a worldwide disaster. You could start fresh and no one would be any wiser, it was the law to pick a second name and never to tell anybody. If this man knew her's he could know many others and who knew how many lives he could ruin! "Where are you?" she called out in vain.
"No where," he whispered, it echoed off the walls, "and everywhere. I've been watching you since the beginning Acacia Willow Blue. You have no true friends."
"Yes I do!" Acacia shot back, "there's Trinity, Patsie, Nat, Kathleen and all my school friends. And Charlie," she added as an afterthought.
The man laughed and suddenly appeared at the light. It was translucent enough so Acacia could see his silhouette though it was muffled and fuzzy. "Just last week the girls had a get together without you."
"I was busy with work! I was given an extra shift."
"They made sure you were busy with work. They bribed your boss to give you an extra shift." he said.
"I doubt it," I snapped. The man started walking around the light tube and she had to turn on the spot to keep watching him.
"They made Brent Bannon hate you so much he put purple gloop in your locker, all over your new dress," he whispered but it seemed so loud.
Acacia flinched back, was it true? "no," she stuttered, "what about Charlie?"
He laughed again, "the girls are working on him now, they're making him hate you right at this moment." The man held up a device that glowed through the light. I went to try grab it but the heat got so intence and red welts began to form on my skin.
"How do you know that? Please, I just came to do my Testing, nothing else," Acacia started so sob, I just want a good job so I can support a future family, I just want a new life, I just want to die!" Acacia collapsed to the floor, narrowly missing the wall by a few inches and lay there sobbing and clutching her knees to her chest. No sound came from the man, she assumed it was because of her small outburst but she didn't care anymore. She had been through enough and she thought her Test could change that but now a crazy man wants to stop that.
"What?" he finally said, "no, I mean, this is kinda a test? I suppose, Acacia please it's me."
"What do you mean, a test?"
"You're special, you can be a great asset to my team if you just listen-"
"How do you know what's happening to Charlie?" Acacia interupped. He didn't answer her question earlier.
"Because," the light wall died down to reveal a man who looked eerily similar to someone she knew. "I am Charlie."
