because I admire your stories so much
The walls were damp and the stench of sickness walked through the stains of blood. Yelling was useless as she found out a couple of hours ago. Her voice was sore and scratchy, she was dying of thirst but when did they ever care what she wanted? To them, she was the traitor, the girl who left. The sister who almost died. A sob wrenched out of her mouth and she collapsed to the ground. Tears fell down her cheeks with the strength of a waterfall. She let herself cry. Through her tears, she spied movement through the metal bars of her cell. The shadow made it's way towards her until it stopped outside. "Hello?" it said. It lifted it's hands and pushed back a hood. Golden hair tumbled out and piercing blue eyes stared at her. She lifted herself off the ground and wiped her eyes.
"Who are you? What are you doing here? Have you come to kill me?" she whimpered, fearing the day had come. Death was a threat that they held over her head whenever they came down but they didn't know that was what she desired. It would be her release from her hell. Her home, or what used to be her home anyway. The blue-eyed boy shook his head and she noticed black piercings in his ears.
"No darling, I'm here to rescue you," he said but his face held no emotion. She used to be good at that- reading expressions but she was probably rusty. There was nothing to read anyway, he was a blank canvas.
She opened her mouth like a fish, "I- what?"
He looked her up and down before clicking his tongue disapprovingly. "My, my, what has my dear cousin done to you? I'll have to get you cleaned up."
She scooted backwards until her back was plastered against the damp concrete. It sent shivers up her spine and it reminded her of the spiders. She screamed suddenly, flashes of the terrible punishment they inflicted upon her invaded her mind. Darkness descended and her eyelids flickered close. Her body started to convulse and Blue-eyes whipped a keychain off a hook as fast as the wind. He rushed into the cell to wake the screaming girl. Footsteps echoed through the passage and other men in cloaks appeared around the corner but Blue-eyes didn't notice or did not care. "Wake up!" he screamed and shook her shoulders but it was as if she was possessed. Her whole body writhed and heart-wrenching, pain-filled screams filled the chamber.
"What's going on?" bellowed a cloaked figure standing at the from. His sleeves were hemmed with red showing leadership. His hood fell off showing a man about twenty-seven or so. His face held concern for a brief second before it became devoid of emotion. He looked to his left where a man clad in a cloak with blue stood. "Where is Charlie?"
"He's getting Acacia Blue, Sir," replied the man. "Donovan-"
"It's Sir to you right now!" hissed Donovan. The man in blue sighed but continued anyway.
"Donovan, what do you want with this 'Acacia' anyway? We have her," he gestured to where she was coming around in Blue-eyes' arms, "we have her to fulfil the prophecy. I thought she was the one?"
Donovan looked at the man for a while before he turned his attention back to the girl in the cell. She blinked a few times before the hazy picture of Blue-eyes came into focus. "Hey," he said, not letting go of her arms.
She peered at him, checking if she thought he was trustworthy. "Hi," she said weakly. She clung to his waist tightly as if she would fall through the cracks if she let go. She buried her face in the crook of his neck and stayed like that, sitting on the ground. Donovan observed them quietly before he waved his hand, dismissing everyone except the man in the blue.
"Karl," Donovan said, "my sister is not the one in the prophecy as I believed. She failed the tests and is now just a traitor. If you believe she is forgiven for leaving me alone, you are mistaken. She has no idea how much I needed her and she broke my heart. When it shattered completely and utterly, it took my humanity also."
"Boss, that's deep stuff. Are you sure you don't still need her as you did?"
Donovan looked at the pained girl holding onto his cousin before he turned away. "With my humanity went my ability to forgive and forget. I despise her and her traitorous face. I want her executed now that we know she is not the Chosen One."
She tightened her grip on Blue-eyes' clothes in fear before he stood, yanking her up with him. "No! No!" she screamed. He grabbed her wrists and placed a hand over her mouth, muffling her wails and screams of protest. He pulled her out of the cell and when she went past Donovan she looked at him with pleading eyes. "Donny I love you. I hope you know that. I love you brother," she whispered but Donovan simply pulled his hood up and watched Blue-eyes drag her out and up the stairs.
Wow. Who do you think that was and what prophecy was Donovan going on about? Comment names for this girl and whoever I pick wins a mention and a character of their choice in this story. I think she has a future yet... Ooh mysterious cliffhangers, don't you just adore them?
