Author's Note: I know I said this was a prequel to Why Did You Leave Us Too, but I've decided to make it an alternate version instead with Ava saving Mal and Carlos and trying to raise a 12 year old and a baby while only being 18 and in college. I hope you still enjoy this story though as I have a lot of fun ideas that I can't wait to do with this story. Anyway I hope you enjoy it and please let me know what you all thought.

"Mal, please be quiet. You're gonna wake Jay up," The young boy whispered to his baby sister as he looked at his cousin's phone. He knew he wasn't allowed to touch Jay's phone because knowing Jay there were probably some inappropriate and illegal things on there but Carlos was out of options.

He tried his phone but Samantha broke it. He tried the new phone but Samantha broke that one too and Carlos couldn't afford a third phone. But Carlos was so done with living in this torturous hell of a place.

He was sick and tired of being fearful in his own home and he was sick and tired of having to calm down his four month old baby sister while she cried out in pain because that monster hurt her again while he wasn't there to stop it.

Carlos felt so helpless and he hated feeling that. He couldn't just sit back and let that monster abuse him and his innocent baby sister any longer. Today had been the final straw when he came home to find Mal sobbing uncontrollably and he couldn't seem to calm her down.

He had thought she was just hungry or wet but that wasn't the case. Samantha had thought it would be a "fun" idea almost do the complete unthinkable and Carlos only caught it because he had installed a nanny cam into one of Mal's toys because he didn't trust that monster but he knew if she knew she was being recorded she would make it worse for them.

He managed to get home just in time to stop it from happening but if he hadn't had those cameras and if he had been a few seconds later she would have gotten away with shaking the poor baby and most likely would have killed her or severally would have damaged her.

Just as Carlos almost had the phone Mal started wailing at the top of her lungs as she started making weird noises, shaking, and coughing. Carlos just immediately dropped the phone as he ran to his baby sister and picked her up.

"Hey shh it's okay pup. It's okay. I'll be right back. I'm going to get the thermometer, you feel warm," Carlos told his sister as he placed her down in the bouncer and quickly ran to grab the thermometer.

When Carlos came back the small baby was completely pale and barely responsive. He just quickly dropped everything as he ran to her and picked her up in panic.

"Mal! Mal, come on! Mal don't do this to me! Mal please! JAY WAKE UP! WAKE UP! JAY I'M NOT KIDDING! MAL IS BARELY BREATHING! JAY WAKE UP RIGHT NOW! UGH FORGET IT!" Carlos cried out as he grabbed his cousin's phone and immediately dialed 911 while still freaking out.

"911 what's your emergency," Carlos heard the phone operator say, making him try to calm down even though he was freaking out and panicking that his baby sister was barely even breathing and shaking uncontrollably.

"My um... my sis...sis...my...sis..." Carlos gasped out as he couldn't seem to get any words out. "Your sister, is that correct?" The 911 operator asked as she tried to help the young boy as she could tell he was most likely having a panic attack and struggling.

Carlos just took a deep breath as he tried again to calm himself down despite how terrified he was right now.

"Yeah my baby sister she's um she's oh gosh this is so hard! She's really pale and she's barely breathing and she's shaking and she has a fever and I'm so scared right now! Please help her! I can't lose my baby sister, she's all I have left!" Carlos rambled out hysterically as he just held his sister close to him and cried.

"Okay it's okay we're sending someone now. Can you tell us what address it is," the 911 operator told the young boy in her gentle voice. "Yeah it's Auradon Prep and I stay in dorm room 101 please hurry up!" Carlos told the operator.

"Okay thank you for your cooperation, someone should be there really shortly. It's going to be okay. Your sister is going to be just fine," the 911 operator told Carlos trying to keep him calm but it wasn't working well as he just couldn't stop panicking as Mal kept getting worse and worse.

All he wanted was Ava right now. He couldn't take any of this anymore. He was just a kid and it was all too much.

Carlos just closed his eyes as he began to feel light headed and all the noises just weren't helping. It was just too much and he couldn't take any of it anymore as he held his sister close to him and just broke down sobbing again.

Carlos was brought out of his trance when the door was quickly opened and a bunch of people came rushing in with a gurney as they immediately ripped the baby from his arms and started working on her.

Carlos just stood by the door and watched in shock as he just couldn't feel anything. It was all becoming jumbled up in his brain as he watched the EMTs work on his sister and scream out scary sounding words that he couldn't seem to comprehend.

Carlos felt his whole world come crashing down on him though when he watched them put a breathing mask over her tiny face and load her up in the ambulance.

"What's going on with her!" Carlos cried out making the EMT sigh as she looked at the terrified little boy.

"Your sister is going to be fine. We're taking her to the hospital now where she's going to get the greatest amount of care she can get," the nice EMT told the young boy who just started crying again as he watched them load up his unresponsive sister.

"I want to go with her!" Carlos told the EMT who just sighed as she looked at the young boy. "You're very young. And what happens in an ambulance back here can be quite scary," the EMT told Carlos who started crying more as he refused to leave his sister alone.

"No! I have to! Mal needs me please! I'm all she has left please!" Carlos begged the EMT who knew this was going to be a disaster but she just couldn't say no to the poor boy.

"Okay fine get on in but I'm warning you it's going to be pretty scary," the EMT worker told Carlos who just nodded as he got into the ambulance. But as soon as he got a look at his barely responsive sister hooked up to a bunch of wires and a breathing machine he couldn't do it anymore as everything started spinning.

"I want Ava! I want Ava! Please, I want Ava! I want my big sister! It's too much! I can't be a parent! I want my nig sister back!" Carlos cried out as everything became more and more blurry and next thing he knew he was out as he collapsed into the darkness.
