Carlos groaned as he finally woke up. He had no clue what happened as the last thing he remembered was watching his sister in the ambulance and then everything was a blur from there.

Just as Carlos was about to start freaking out as he had no clue where he was and where his baby sister was or if she was even okay he felt a gentle hand on him making him look up as he came face to face with his big sister.

"Are you really here or is this a dream?" Carlos asked his sister as he wanted to believe it was her but he just didn't know anymore and Ava hadn't even spoken to him in forever.

Ava just laughed a little at her little brother as she just looked at him. "No, I'm really here. I'm so sorry about leaving you. It was so wrong of me. I'm the worst sister ever but don't worry as soon as you're both discharged we're going to your dorm and you're packing," Ava told her brother making him smile as he was just happy to have his big sister back.

He always felt safe with Ava. "Really! Are you serious!" Carlos asked excitedly as he was finally getting his wish, making Ava smile as she nodded.

"Dead serious. You're both coming with me and I'm not separating us again," Ava told her little brother as she looked at him, making Carlos light up with happiness before reality hit him and he remembered where he was.

"Ava have you seen Mal! Is she okay?" Carlos asked Ava who just bit down on her lip to stop herself from crying as she thought about the tiny baby and all the wires and tubes connected to her right now as she slowly nodded.

"Yeah I saw her. She's um well she's stable," Ava told her little brother, making him look at her in concern. "What do you mean by stable!" The young boy asked as he began to panic about his baby sister who he hadn't seen since he passed out.

"I mean she's stable right now. Which is good news. She's definitely not healthy enough for discharge though. I can tell you that. But the nurse I was talking to earlier said that you are. We were just waiting for you to wake up first," Ava told the young boy who just nodded as he was still trying to process everything.

"Okay well I'm up now. Can I be discharged and go see Mal!" Carlos called out as he quickly tried to get up but Ava gently pushed him back down.

"Carlos take it easy, you're still injured. And not yet the doctor has to come in first and give us the official discharge and then yes we're going to see Mal and not leave her side till she recovers," Ava told her little brother who just groaned as he hated this. He wanted to just be free already he wasn't even sick.

"Ugh but Ava I'm fine! I don't even feel sick or anything. I just passed out from shock," Carlos told Ava who just sighed as she ran her hands through his hair.

"I know you don't but it's just a precaution and you were actually a little dehydrated. It's been taken care of but it's the truth," Ava told Carlos who just groaned again.

"Ugh how much longer!" The young boy whined out, making Ava laugh a little as she couldn't help it. She really had missed her little brother.

"Oh you're up. How are you feeling?" The nurse asked Carlos. "I feel great! Never been better! Can I be discharged now?" Carlos told the nurse who laughed a little as she checked a few things then smiled.

"Well everything seems great. So I would say yes. I will just go get the discharge papers while you change and then you can be on your way," the nurse told them as she left the room.

"Finally! Ugh I hate hospital clothes so much!" Carlos called out as he quickly went to the bathroom and changed back into his clothes.

When Carlos came back out he was shocked to see that Ava wasn't alone anymore as Nolan was now sitting next to her. "Okay what is he doing here?" Carlos asked as he pointed to Nolan.

"Oh he came with me. He was just getting us some food that's why he wasn't here when you first woke up," Ava told Carlos who was just staring daggers at Nolan.

"Hey bud how's it going?" Nolan told the young boy trying to act nice in front of Ava. "Why are you even here?" Carlos told the older boy as he couldn't stand Nolan after what he put him through.

"Carlos, that's rude! And he's here because he wanted to come and be supportive," Ava told her brother as she didn't know about the things that Nolan had said to Carlos, so she didn't understand why he was acting the way he was.

"Sorry I didn't mean to. I'm just worried about Mal and I got confused with seeing someone new," Carlos told Ava in his innocent tone that he could luckily still get away with being only twelve.

"It's okay now come on I signed the papers which means you are officially free," Ava playfully told Carlos as she pulled him into a hug making Carlos laugh a little as he hugged his sister back.

"Okay enough of this sappy stuff! Let's go see Mal now," Carlos told Ava as he pulled away from the hug. "Oh right, I almost forgot about that. Okay follow me, but first I want to warn you. Carlos she's pretty sick right now, so it's going to be hard to see her the way she is," Ava told Carlos as it had been traumatizing when she first entered the room and had seen the poor baby hooked up to so many wires and tubes.

She wanted to give the younger boy a warning as she was 18 and she was traumatized by it; she couldn't even imagine what her 12 year old brother's reaction would be. "I think I can handle it," Carlos told Ava who just sighed as she looked at her brother and her boyfriend. She honestly didn't want to have to see Mal like this again, but she was in charge now and Mal needed as much support as she could get.

"Okay I guess we're going in," Ava told Carlos and Nolan as she took a deep breath and then the three of them entered the room.
