The only reason I am not pacing from one side of the room to the other is that, at this very moment, I am sitting in Abraço, my favorite coffee shop near my workplace. It is currently 6.49 pm and my stomach cannot take any more stress today.
It has been a busy day at the office, as always no one realizes the current workload I am having to deal with but today I welcomed it. Anything to take my mind out of this very meeting that is about to take place. For the first time since I am working all by myself, I managed to finish all my work for today as well as half of what I needed to do tomorrow.
The door to the coffee shop swings open and I glance at the entrance. A short skinny gentleman with sunglasses walks in, he searches around the place until his eyes land on me. Removing his sunglasses he then proceeds to walk towards my table, I stand up. I know it is him, had seen him in several zoom meetings before but was not expecting him to be as short. I slightly bow as he reaches the table.
"Hello Mr. Hak, it's a pleasure to finally meet you in person," I say as I return to my straight position.
"The pleasure is all mine Miss Y/L/N." He says as he finished bowing himself, smiling.
He might be short but his aura emits power and respect. While he takes off his jacket and scarf, I return to my seat and signal Jamie, who had just finished serving a table just behind ours.
"Hey, Jamie we are ready to order," I say, gesturing to Mr. Hak to go first.
"A simple black coffee will do, thanks. How about you Miss Y/L/N?"
"I will have a double espresso please Jamie." I smile.
"Would you like olive oil cake to go with it?" He knows me so well, but...
"Not today, thank you. Maybe you can tempt Mr. Hak?"
"Well, I am quite intrigued actually." He has no idea what he is about to get into. "I would very much like to try this, please Jamie."
"Coming right up!" As Jamie returns to the counter I turned to face Mr. Hak.
"So, Miss Y/N." He starts while reaching into a small suitcase he has with him and pulling off a small white bag. "How surprised are you that I called you?"
"Very. I didn't think you would ever contact me again." I shift in my seat, uncomfortable for being so blunt.
"Why not? In the email, I made it very clear." He smiles and pulls off a phone out of the little white bag, scans his fingertip, and looks for something. After he finds it he shows me the screen and continues. "I said when a new opportunity arises and not if, I also asked you to let me know if you didn't want to be part of any new possibilities."
"Oh." Indeed, I can see that he did. "Now that you show me it I think I noticed back then, but I was a bit sad that I didn't make the cut, as well as confused, so I didn't think much about it. I avoided thinking about it."
"Yes, I have been following your YouTube channel." He shows me the subscription to my channel and all notifications on, it made me smile. "You are very popular in Korea, did you know that?"
"Yes, I do see the statistics." My smile quickly drops when I realize I sound conceited. "Well I don't know how popular I am, what I mean is I know I get quite a lot of views from there."
A cup of coffee is set right in front of me by a smiling Jamie, I smile back and give a quick thanks while he turns to give Mr. Hak his coffee and his piece of cake.
"We should talk business. But before we do here is my phone." With both hands, he hands me his phone, which in return I accept with both hands as well. "Please put the earphones on, they are brand new, listen to the concept and let me know if this is something you would be interested in."
