(A/N: this should be two chapters tbh. ESPECIALLY considering that it's 14 thousand words long but I won't leave y'all hanging for one minute. I want y'all to suffer.yall thought the last chapter was bad. Tuh, that's funny.)
Chapter 7: girls like you
Playlist: Girls Like You By Miguel
Gina
I hummed as I started making the dough for my famous rolls. Moving around my kitchen seamlessly. I could hear the birds chirping.
"Shit is too peaceful today." I muttered to myself. I heard my phone ringing and I looked at the phone seeing it was Diamond calling me.
"Hey baby." I answered the FaceTime call. Her usual happy face was serious. She didn't look like she was in her usual place either her apartment or in Dani's salon. She walked out of wherever she was at and got in her car. She looked so tired. Her eyes clearly had bags on them.
"Hey mama. Sorry I needed to get in my car real quick to talk." She explained. She propped her phone up.
"You look tired honey. What's going on?" I asked. She sighed and closed her eyes.
"Can we meet up somewhere and talk?" She asked. I picked up my phone and nodded.
"Of coarse, I'll be Lelani's in like 10 minutes." She nodded her head and I hung up the phone. I took a deep breath and sighed.
This couldn't be good.
I wiped off my hands with my rag and grabbed my keys along with my phone. I tied my scarf around my head tying it at the bottom and put on my straw hat. I walked out the door locking up my house and walked to my car. When I decided to settle down and retire I bought myself a nice pretty blue Mercedes.
I hopped in my car and opened up my sun roof driving off. It was a short drive Lelani's, which was local brunch spot I frequented. When I pulled up I seen Diamond car. I got out and walked up to her car to see her with her eyes closed with no music on. I knocked on her window and she looked directly at me giving me a soft smile.
She got out the car and smiled pulling me into a hug. She melted into my arms and I rubbed her back. She seemed like she really needed it.
"Oh baby. Let's get mimosas and talk about everything."I rubbed her shoulder smiling. I held onto her. We walked into the restaurant. The host sat us at a table outside we both got seated.
"Please start us off with some mimosa." I spoke before even looking at the menu. The waitress nodded and walked away.
"You look pretty mama." Dee spoke the first real smile I seen from her today. I smiled and pulled off my Versace shades adjusting my floral dresss.
"Thank you so much baby. Despite you looking so tired you look good too." It was true, she looked pretty with her blue dress on her natural hair all out.
"Thank you." Her accent showing now which made me smile. She blushed and looked down smiling. She was adorable.
"I see why my son is so enamored with you. You're adorable." I smiled. She really was. She started to giggled and placed some of her hair behind her ear.
"Mama." She blushed fanning me off.
"Mimosas for two?" The waitress said placing our drinks down. I grabbed my glass and Diamond followed suit sipping out her glass.
"Now lay down the bad news." I said leaning back in the seat.
She sighed and looked at me. "I got shot at last night." I gasped taking another sip out of my glass.
