Chapter 9

~Violet's POV~
After our punishment in the red barn was over, the guard dragged us back to bed.

When I woke up in the morning I felt sick. My head was pounding.

"Are you okay Violet?" Klaus asks.

"No, not really" I reply.

"I told you to stay quiet. If you had stayed quiet you wouldn't have been hurt!" He says angrily.

"Well when I see someone being treated unfairly, I have to say something! Sorry, Klaus."
I tell him. He chuckles.

"That's one thing I love about you. Always standing up for others." He says while I start to smile.

"Just please don't do anything like that again please?" Klaus begs.

"I promise." I finished while he sighed in relief.

"Alright, we are going to start our 5th trial now," Brenner spoke.

I take a deep breath and get ready.

When they turned on the machine I felt my whole body in agony.

It felt like someone was ripping my body into pieces.

I hear Alexei start to scream. He then said "help me" in Bulgarian. Wait how did I know that? I don't speak Bulgarian.

They turned off the machine and at first, I didn't feel anything. That was until I heard Alexei starting to scream. I started to scream too due to the amount of pain.

Then he started saying help me in Bulgarian again. I don't know why but I repeated as well.

"Stop!" Brenner said while the machines stopped.

Brenner starts whispering something to two scientists.

Then, one scientist came towards me and the other went to Alexei.

The nurses started dragging me and Alexei to a separate room.

"Where are you taking her?" I hear Klaus shout.

"None of your concern" Brenner says.

"What do you mean none of my concern! She's my sister!" This is the last thing I hear before I am completely out of the room.

~Time skip~

Alexei and I are in this room and we're hooked up to these wires. Similar to the ones in the red barn.

A scientist started attaching the wires to Alexei and me.

When the scientists turned on the machine I started to have the same feeling. Except, this time it felt different.

It felt like I was feeling it two ways. "Помогни ми," I say at the same time as Alexei.

Here's where it gets weirder. I also had a vision of Cal. He was in a hospital bed. Sweating and screaming "Помогни ми".

I think somehow Cal, Alexei and I are all connected?

~Cal's POV~
At this point, I don't know what's going on. I'm seeing Violet and Alexei hooked up to these white wires getting shocked.

This is the worst pain ever. Feeling it three ways is even worse.

"Помогни ми," I say quickly.

"Help me" in Bulgarian? I don't know Bulgarian. Why am I speaking it!

The real question is why am I feeling them hurt?

I quickly remembered something.

When I had that horrible feeling a couple of days ago, I saw Violet. I think somehow Violet and I are connected. I'm not too sure how Alexei fits in with all of this though.

As I was thinking about this that's when it hit me. "Don't let her go". That voice in my head. The voice said not to let her go. I should have listened to that voice.

I think I know the reason for all of this. I think somehow I have to save Violet.

When the surge of energy stopped I woke up for a brief moment.

"Help me!" That was all I could say to my dad.

After I spoke I went unconscious.

~Violet's POV~
So far I've been hooked up to this machine for an hour and a half.

As the scientist kept testing on us the more and more it hurt.

I'm feeling the electricity surge from myself including two other people! So imagine that.

"Any results?" I hear one scientist say.

"No. I still don't understand why they're reacting differently than the other subjects." Another one says.

"Brenner's going to be mad."

"I know."

"Well, try a different level"

Why did we react differently than the other patients?

What do I have in common with Alexei?

The only time I ever talked to him was when we were in the red barn.

Wait, the red barn.

Before I couldn't understand the language that Alexei was speaking, but as soon as we went into the red barn and started getting shocked I could understand him.

I understood him and I felt him. I felt what he was feeling.

The only reasonable explanation I can think of is that the electricity surge connected us.

Wait, Cal wasn't with Alexei and me during the red barn punishment.

What does he have to do with this?

Why am I connected to him?

I get pulled out of my thoughts when I hear the scientists say something.

"I'm changing this to a higher level."

I don't know why he's talking like I could respond.

I feel so weak I can't even talk.

He turned on the machine. I feel the same feeling again. Only this time it starts to get worse.

I don't think Alexei can take much more of this. He looks like he's going to die. We have to get out of here.

I quickly have the same vision again. The one with Cal in a hospital bed. I hope he's ok.

I wish that I never went on that flight.
I wish that this was just some bad dream and when I woke up I was at home with Klaus, mom and dad watching a movie.

Sadly, I know this isn't a dream. This is a nightmare.
