Those coffee eyes
That opened up every nightThose strong arms
Wrapping me around
A protective stanceYour soft tone
Those fluffy curlsPeople aren't supposed to be homes
But why did I feel so comfortable with you?
Why did I settle with you?The warmth put me in a trance
Made me get used to the cold
Gradually
UnconsciouslyUntil I realized
Home caught me on fireYou saved me from the streets
Shelter from the world
With blankets and snacks
How nice was that? But what my brain realized
My heart hadn't caught onWith your lullabies and compliments
And every little giftThe warmth grew inside
The frost overcame my sidesYou had planned it
Perfect executionOf a rescued little mutt
Burnt by their own home
No ashes left
But Home got permanently stained
