Do you, though?
Have you felt it?
Have you cried for it?
Has it made you laugh? How many scars do you bear 'cause of it?
How many breaths has it taken from your lungs? How many wrinkly smiles did it cause?
How many funny faces and weird sounds? You know the feeling, right?
That which takes you away
Your head light
Your heart heavyLike when a pup licks your face
Then you watch it get run overLike caring for a lovely flower
With bright petals and spiky thorns
While with water and good soil
You watch it wilt and rotLike a kitten's content purr
Kneading on your clothes
Waiting every afternoon
For it to never returnMaking your first pottery
And watching the mug shatter
Or cooking after a long time
And tasting only ashesBittersweet, isn't it?
You know
That feeling when caring for someone you love
