The Titan Tigers were a strong team and powered by fierce determination to honour their captain and the team name, they managed to win their next match with a miraculous comeback that had them score their best goals yet.
Lisa was running out on to the pitch the moment the final whistle blasted, bawling her eyes out as she launched herself at her nearest teammates and they all sprawled in a heap, piling up on each other in one big heap of flailing limbs and tears of relief.
"You guys are the best of the best," Lisa sobbed, "hell, it feels like we won already! I'm so proud of you all for making up for my stupidity!"
"You're welcome, now if you could kindly release me before I choke to death would be nice," Jisoo gasped as Lisa held her in a crushing embrace. "Just be sure not to blow your top off again, I worked my ass off and now I need two days of sleep."
Lisa laughed but made good on her word and was a model of virtue in all their following games as they slowly inched towards the coveted final match.
The gentle warm showers of spring gradually made way for blazing sunny summer to march in and the final match day dawned, with the Titan Tigers set to face White Wolves in an epic showdown. The day had been filled with frenzied energy, the whole campus was on shut down and the Tigers had spent the majority of the hours preceding the match psyching themselves up for the confrontation of their lives.
"You got this," Chaeyoung told Lisa in the dressing rooms as she dabbed on black paint on her face while everyone around them noisily changed and prepared for match. At one point Jaehyun had stepped in with Coach Teddy for some final words as well, and Lisa caught him glancing thoughtfully at Chaeyoung.
He had lately progressed to nodding at both girls and he seemed much less of a pretentious jerk nowadays, to everyone's pleasure.
"Will you be watching?" Lisa asked as Chaeyoung put away the face paint.
"Like I'd miss it for the world! Especially now that I know what the heck Blue 42 is and the hundred other phrases."
"I'm gonna quiz you later," Lisa winked. "See if you were paying attention."
Chaeyoung smiled before her brow furrowed. Lisa noticed and nudged her.
"What is it?"
"Don't get hurt okay?" Chaeyoung said, surprising Lisa because she had never sounded as serious before.
Lisa nodded. "Uh sure?"
Chaeyoung hesitated some more. "I want to tell you something after the match—"
Lisa never got to find out what Chaeyoung was going to say next because loud filthy smacks of passionate kissing filled the dressing room along with numerous groans of disgust and complaints of 'get a damn room!'
The culprits were Jisoo and Jennie, furiously making out in full view of everyone without a care in the world. Jennie had Jisoo pressed up against her locker, her thigh situated between her legs. Their faces were squashed together such that Jisoo's face paint left marks on Jennie's cheeks. They clutched each other fiercely with fabric bunched up in fists, seconds away from tearing each other's clothes off.
"OIII!" Lisa bellowed, mortification colouring her face as red as their shirts.
Jisoo pulled away from Jennie with a noise that sounded like a plunger. They grinned lazily, dazed and flushed.
"What? Some of us need the incentive," Jisoo panted, smirking as she pulled her snickering girlfriend closer from the hip. "Ain't that right, babe?"
"Totally, babe," Jennie simpered, and teasingly leaned in to peck her on the lips before a flurry of shouts stopped her in her tracks, making her chuckle. Jisoo merely grinned, staring right back at Lisa without blinking.
Lisa would have loved to deck her across her annoyingly smug face because truthfully, she would have given everything to swap places with Jisoo and had been making out with Chaeyoung before the game, in the same position too.
"Just make sure you keep your head in the game," Lisa said at last.
"Oh yeah? Who got us our precious win a while ago, hmm? Who got us back in the running? Who scored ten of the goals? Who—"
"Alright alright I get it," Lisa sighed, knowing she'd never hear the end of it. "Just...let's all focus, okay?"
"Roger, Cap'n!" everyone chorused.
Lisa turned back to Chaeyoung. "You were saying something?"
She shook her head. "We'll talk later. Good luck."
And then most surprising of all, she pulled Lisa's shirt to bring her face down and kissed her cheek, just a light kiss that however had Lisa's insides melt.
"See you later Lisa!" Chaeyoung called and hurriedly left, leaving Lisa staring after her departing figure before Jisoo pinched her arm hard and nearly got herself sent to the hospital.
