One Week Later
Fortunately, training kept Lisa preoccupied, especially with their upcoming matches and the high expectations everyone placed on the Tigers to bring the trophy home after twenty long barren years.
Lisa in particular took her responsibility seriously and diligently put in the hours to make sure she was in tip-top condition, both mentally and physically.
At the gym or on the pitch, there was no time for lovelorn yearning—she wasn't about to throw away her chance of bringing glory to the squad over a simple crush, thus, she pushed aside all thoughts of cute artistic blondes and worked out any chance she got outside of classes.
She had kept her head down during sessions with Jaehyun, who on his part ignored Lisa as well and surprisingly enough (aside from his insufferable personality) training with the squad went smoothly.
Lisa had also stopped visiting the park, largely because she was devoting more time to extra practice with Jisoo after class, and also because it was the wise thing to do.
Lisa's determination to get over Chaeyoung seemed to be progressing smoothly until the day before the Tigers' next scheduled match with the Super Seahawks.
They had been going through some quick drills together just the two of them before transitioning to short throws.
"Jisoo, go long!" Lisa called.
As Jisoo was jogging away, Lisa caught sight of a familiar figure walking despondently along the bleachers, head down with her blonde hair curling around her face, clutching her sketchpad to her chest like always.
And in that moment, Lisa was just happy to see Chaeyoung again. After the week-long absence, Lisa would be lying if she admitted to not be worried about Chaeyoung, with the way Jaehyun had dragged her away, but seeing her in the flesh reassured her that all was well.
The urge to speak with her also returned, despite all warnings to the contrary, but Lisa couldn't resist, not when she remembered the way the blonde giggled and smiled at her.
"Yo Lis, I'm ready!" Jisoo hollered from the other side of the pitch.
Lisa had a brainwave. She pulled her arm back and let the ball fly, grinning in anticipation as she watched its slow descent to the ground.
"Waaaah!"
Lisa paled. "Oops."
The football had landed right in front of Chaeyoung, startling the girl as she violently jumped, her sketchpad flying out of her hands. Papers scattered around her, falling like snowflakes.
Chaeyoung held her chest, recovering from the shock as her heart beat wildly. She glanced to the field, spotting a familiar tall jock waving enthusiastically.
"Hey Chae!"
"Lisa?" Chaeyoung called, picking up the football. "Is this yours?"
"Yeah, my bad," Lisa apologised. "Weak throw. Could you toss it over to Jisoo?"
"Over here." Jisoo waved. She was a closer distance to Chaeyoung. "Throw it back!"
To both Lisa and Jisoo's bewilderment, Chaeyoung hesitated, looking uncertainly at the football in her hands before she scuttled over to Jisoo and dropped it in her hands.
"Uh, thanks?" Jisoo said, confused.
"Sure, anytime," Chaeyoung squeaked.
"Hang on," Lisa called, making her way over when she saw the exchange. "You don't know how to throw a football?"
