Throughout the same weeks where Jenna and Sophie became close, Sophie had been talking to a guy through text messages. He was very cute, and Sophie began developing strong feelings. They had yet to go on any dates or even hookup, but Sophie felt like something was coming. She was just waiting for him to make the first move.
After a while, Sophie was getting tired of waiting for something to happen. Despite his flirtatious personality, he never showed Sophie any clear signs of being attracted to her.
One night, Sophie finally caved in. She sent him a simple text:
Honestly, I really like you. Please tell me you feel the same way.His reply was something she never expected:
You really had to go and make this weird? I thought we were friends. I would never want to date you. You are not my type at all. Please don't contact me again.Sophie was heartbroken. She didn't mean to drive him away, yet somehow she caused him to hate her all because of one text message.
Holding back her tears, she couldn't help but feel the unadulterated loneliness and emptiness inside of her heart.
To avoid letting the dread get to her, she went over to Jenna's dorm room a little before midnight. Luckily, Jenna had no roommate, so Sophie didn't have to worry about some other person listening in on her problems.
Jenna opened her door after the first knock.
"What's up?" Jenna asked. She was wearing a tight pink t-shirt and black pants. Sophie couldn't help but notice that Jenna wasn't wearing a bra, as her nipples popped through the shirt.Despite planning on hiding her grief, Sophie's voice immediately quivered.
She started sobbing.
Jenna took Sophie into her room and hugged her, putting her hand onto Sophie's head and holding her close to her shoulder. Even though she was crying, Sophie was glad to see that Jenna was a true friend.
A minute later, Sophie looked up, leftover tears still dripping down her face. As Jenna's arms remained around Sophie, they looked into each other's eyes.
Suddenly, Jenna kissed Sophie on the lips. Just once. So quick. So unexpected.
