Ana POV
I stare at the blank wall in front of me. I hear the door swing open and the crew throwing The Reyes team into the room we started in. "That took a while. I thought you guys got lost there for a hot second." I teased. "Can we just get this over and done already?" Charles stressed over the fact that this is taking so long. Mason tries to shut his bickering and complaining but I wave my hand over towards them silencing and stating now is not the time for this.
I briskly turn to face Reyes. I get close and personal with his face. "Dolor actem non exleris ad infirmitatem." I say in a hushed tone. I think this is the first time that I saw him without a smug face. His face suddenly pales as he looks like a kid who was just told Christmas was canceled. I chuckle as I stand up. "Your silence is my favorite sound," I say louder so everyone can hear. His silence grows louder so I continue to speak. This is how it ends. There is nothing left to avenge." "We will fight again." He argues back "Just remember one thing, father. When this war is over, don't make enemies for friends." "Why are you doing this, I don't understand what happened that you have to go this far to make things better." My brother exclaims from his seat.
"You don't understand? What is left for me to tell you to make you understand. I got smarter. I recognized the weapon in my mind. I've had the rug pulled beneath my feet. I've trusted lies and trusted men. They broke me down and I put myself back together. I've stared in the mirror and punched it to shatters, I was left alone to collect the pieces. I finally have my moment to say I don't owe you a goddamn thing. I don't like the little games or the tilted stage father created. I was told I wasn't good enough for the kingdom our father built. I would go to my room and pinch my skin in between my fingers. I wished I could cut some parts off with some scissors. I was told to smile at everyone and to put on this fake mask to show the world that we were a sweet and innocent family. But we are far from that. I had nothing to smile about. The role I was forced to play was the goddamn fool. But I'll be the actress starring in your bad dreams." I reprimanded. My eyes search and scan the room where at least half of the people who screwed me over and ruined my life sitting. The land at my father who can't even bear to stare at me in the eyes as they slowly drift back to my brother's
"Is this was this whole thing is about. Who will rule when our father is gone. Because if you want this empire this Kingdom. You can have it!" My brother stresses. "I don't like this kingdom. It had once belonged to me but I don't it anymore. The world moves on, another day another drama. But all I think about is karma. As the world moves on, there is one thing left for sure. I may have gotten mine already, but you'll all get yours." I utter, spitting facts that hopefully everyone knows.
"Tell me one thing. After you complete this mission, what are you going to do? Go into hiding?" My brother questioned. "Oh honey, I rose from the dead. But don't worry I do it all the time." I say with a wink. "At least someone can rise from the dead. Sad not everyone can. Tell me what does Abeula's grave looks like Nowadays. Haven't seen it in a while. What did she always say? Oh yes, killing is the devil on your shoulder, never submit to it. Fight beyond it."I falter a bit but quickly brush it off making sure he doesn't realize the effect he has over me. "You've just crossed the line" "Remember Ana, Don't play with fire unless you aren't scared of getting burned." Reyes hisses as he smirks back in his seat.
"I know you want the satisfaction but it's not gonna happen. You can kick me when I'm on the ground. Say things to mess with my head. But it's only gonna let you down." "The only thing thats down is your grandmother. And she is 6 feet under." He comments back. "You're committed, I will give you that. But I'm the crime that will kill you. Push my button anytime, I've already got my finger on the trigger." I retorted. "May I ask you a question, Ana." "Sure why not," I say sarcastically. "Where did Donovan come. I know Grace is your middle name." "Donovan was the name of the reporter who reported Abuela's death. I wanted something close to Abuela." I stated.
