The moment I entered my house; I knew He Xuan was here.

"Where are you?" I called out to my not so empty house.

There was no answer.

Knowing very well where he was; I made way to the cave. Over the years He Xuan built a small yet deep pond below my house. The pond connected the sea next to the cliff.

As expected he was there lying amidst water with a glass of whiskey in his hand. His eyes were lost as only profound anguish was depicted.

"Hey-"

"You didn't tell me Shi Qingxuan was back."

Fuck.

"Would that have made any difference?"

Taking a deep breath he took a sip and shook his head, "No. Fuck Hua! How many centuries has it been?"

Too many.

He started laughing solemnly and I knew my friend is lost in misery.

"What his elder brother did to me; I could have forgotten and forgiven, but what he did to my family, by fiancé... my unborn baby; how could I forgive him for that?

"Taking my fate and replacing it with his younger brother, imagine having known I had such fate to become God; but in the end I landed up fighting with my own self and became Ghost King Supreme. Why? Because our fates where changed. He got mine and I got Shi Qingxuan's.

"Hua-" raising his hand He Xuan's eyes were glazed, "I killed Shi Qingxuan's brother with my own bare hands and Shi Qingxuan-" glancing at my direction I saw a tear fall, "I asked him to beg for forgiveness. In the end he said they didn't deserve to be forgiven. He was my friend Hua. I shared memories of friendship with him. Our past albeit wrong but he was my close confidante.

"When he was sent down to earth to live as mortal, I kept watching over him, saving him from harm and misery. I wanted to tell him that he was forgiven, but everytime those taunts, yells and torture came back to forefront. Did you know his brother asked a group of police to take me into custody? Do you know what they did there?"

"He Xuan-"

I wanted him to stop. Not because I didn't want him to speak. We have shared pains of eachothers innumerable times, but it was because He Xuan needed to heal.

"Now he's back! Skylar. My own student!" Splashing water in anger he roared, "How much longer do I need to suffer?"

"He Xuan-" but he was gone. Diving into the water he disappeared and this is what I was afraid off.

With a sigh I picked up the bottle of whiskey and brought it along with me to the room where Dianxia's idol was placed. Taking a seat on the ground and sitting crossed leg, I placed my elbows on my knees and took a glug.

I long stopped feeling guilty to sit and drink in front of him. Showing him my vulnerability felt good.

"Have you been well?"

With flick of my hand I lit all the candels in the room. His gold idol shined the brightest.

"I have been well. Started my new semester and year. Students are well students."

Taking another glug I peer into his beautiful eyes, "I met someone. That someone is you. You came back as promised."

Turning to face the stem that was still floating mid-air; there were no petals in it. "Like me you're lonely too."
