Institute Of Medical Specialists. Los Angeles, California.
Rebecca had found Pamela's looks from last night extremely weird, uncomfortable and worrisome even. She still can't decipher the reason for which she was giving her those looks but if there's one thing Rebecca now know, is that the woman care about Colby a great deal. With how estranged and fraudulent his relationship with his brother is and perhaps have always been, Rebecca is glad Colby has friends like Pamela and Joe in his life, just as she has Ashley. And although she's still wary about Pamela, the woman's fierce insistence alone for her to be present at the office even when Colby suggested she stay outside has cleared much of the lingering reservations Rebecca has about her. More over, if there's one person who can get Colby to finally break out of his sullen mood, it's Pamela. Rebecca just knows it.
She hadn't even gotten the chance to try. After the the disastrous exchange which had ensued between him and his brother, after the hot daze had cleared from his mind returning him to his senses, his anger had been replaced by concern. Concern that she might've gotten hurt amidst the heated argument and that's the only thing he'd asked. If she were hurt, if she were okay, and before Rebecca could even calm down his fears, ignore Ashley's advice and risk the chance of irking him, Pamela had appeared.
More worried at the blood gushing out of his nose than asking questions, she'd quickly and wordlessly, dragged him away from the commotion to her office where they're sitting at now, Rebecca sitting on the couch near the door while Pamela and Colby sit on opposite sides in front of her desk, an ice pack held against his injured nose to prevent swelling and more bleeding. She couldn't quite gauge what Colby said a moment ago but judging by Pamela's exasperated facial expression, Rebecca can tell he has entreated his friend to leave the matter alone. Yet again.
"I won't leave the matter alone, Colby." Pamela's insistent, irritated tone of voice grabs Rebecca's full attention, forcing her to severe her focus on the pictures of infants and pregnant women dominating much space of honeyed wall of the office, giving Rebecca the realization that Pamela is a gynaecologist. She's not only grateful for Pamela's persistent demand for details, but also for the much needed breakage of quietude. It was gradually becoming long and boring. " It's nothing new if Jon ever gets punched in the face but you? I'm most disappointed you indulged him in his crazy thirst for arguments."
Colby inclines his head back when Pamela attempts to adjust the ice pack, scowling hard at her. Rebecca would've been greatly bothered if Colby was giving her that chilling look but Pamela seems unconcerned. She's probably inured to it. "How can you claim I was being indulgent when you weren't even there?"
"You're the one who got punched in the face," Pamela simply replies, as though that was answer enough and Rebecca thinks perhaps it is. Colby has always struck her as the patient, tolerant type of person while considering the stories he'd told her about his brother, Jonathan will seem more of Fergal's type; impatient, surly and tempestuous. But after seeing Jonathan in person earlier, seen just how much he was trying to convince Colby none of what he was accusing him of was true, he's so much better than Fergal. "Jon wouldn't punch you in the face for nothing. You must've provoked him. What did you say to him, Colby?"
Colby abruptly surges up to his feet, knocking the first-aid box which had been on Pamela's lap to the granite floor, setting the ice pack on the desk. "I think we're done here."
Pamela glares up at him, "I still need to see if that cut is deep enough to require stitches. We aren't done yet. Sit down."
"Pam, it's fine. It's just a cut. . . ."
"Sit. Down. Colby!" Pamela strictly orders. Colby flops back down on the chair, sulking like a petulant child. Rebecca snickers. "That wasn't so hard, was it? Why do you always have to be so stubborn?" Pamela scolds, wiping some dried blood from his chin. "Now, tell me what happened."
