Chapter 6

Gossip.

Gossip is something that travels like wildfire.

Especially in a hospital. It's seems like that's all the nurses do is gossip.

Not that I'm complaining, some of it is pretty juicy!

There's an intern that turned out to be sleeping with her resident (teacher type person to interns) to get ahead! The chief of surgery was having an affair with one of the nurses! This hospital is messed up! But the worst bit was when they talked about Alex and Avery... They discussed Alex's divorce, which angered me as they had no right to judge him or his situation. But what they said about Avery upset me, they spoke of how he flirts with the patients, patients family, nurses... Pretty much everyone woman that walks through the door..

It hurt me to think I was just another person in the hospital.

But it's okay, I'm leaving the hospital tomorrow, obviously I'll stay in touch with Alex, maybe it'll even turn to more..

Maybe I should sleep on it...

Finally! I can leave! This place is doing my head in!

I've refused to flirt back when Dr Avery speaks to me and instead flirt with Alex a little, he gave me his number earlier, we're planning a date for Saturday.

Mum helped me pack my bag, but realised I felt the need to be alone. "I'll be waiting in the car sweetie" she kissed my head before she left.

I slowly packed my things.

"Lexie?" I heard his voice behind me.

I don't turn round, choosing to ignore him.

"I didn't realise I'd discharged you?" He asked, confused.

"You didn't. Dr Weck did" I stated.

"Oh, okay well stay in touch yeah?" I spoke cautiously as if trying not to scare me.

"Yeah whatever." I said coldly.

"Lexie, what did I do?" He cried out.

"Oh nothing! Just played me like you play everyone of the female gender!" I blurted.

He stood like stone staring straight into my eyes.

I slammed my case shut and walked out the door, refusing to look back through the tears that threatened to spill down my cheeks.
