The water was pouring down. Not a ray of sunshine to be seen. By now, it was mid May already.

However, yesterday, Atticus and Noah and I went out on the fields next to the north wing. The clerks have this ginormous garden with like a thousand type of flowers, ending in a big forest.

After walking through it for about an hour, going up and down rocks and through a river, we arrived at a beautiful lake with tons flowers and birds flying around. The water was pretty clear, better than you would expect, and not that cold either.

"Fuck, I needed this," Noah said, walking towards the water. "Poor Damian, mate's gone given himself detention." He turned around giving Atticus a lopsided grin.

"Atti, remember back in our first year. With Mr. Smith?" He threw an arm around his shoulder.

Atticus smirked back,"Seven weeks right?"

"Yup!! Seven full weeks."

"What?" I asked, confused.

"Back when we had Mr. Smith as our history teacher, we got into quite a bit of trouble," Atticus said sheepishly, scratching his neck.

"No, no! Because what did you say again? 'This man is so boring, no wonder-"

"No wonder his wife left him, yeah yeah I remember," Atticus finished.

"Dang! Never thought you had it in you Atticus." I said.

He always seemed like this laidback, kind of shy type of guy. Kind of a teachers pet in the eyes of some people, but overall not someone who would get on their bad side.

Noah looked at him with a fond look in his eyes saying, "Little did our small boy know, Mr. Smith was standing right behind him, helping Vic and Rü with a question they had about the Indonesian-Dutch war. Oh, how I would kill to see the look on your face again when you realised he heard you, Atti."

Noah was laughing so hard, he had to hold his stomach to avoid tumbling over into the water.

"Shut up, Simons. Do I need to remind you of that one spring break-"

"Okay! Okay! My apologies Your Highness Sir Atticus the, uh, fourth of the Kingdom of... Atticus, heh. My King, please have mercy on my poor soul," Noah cut him off. He untied his shoes, and took off his socks, before bowing deeply right before Atticus his knees.

"You rascal!" Atticus shoved his shoes off and chased Noah, ending up with him shoving Noah into the water. I hadn't laughed this hard in ages.

The two seemed to have a good strong bond, knowing what the other wanted without them saying it. One look and they had each other figured out.

At that time, a friendship like that was something I wanted the most. Looking back at it, I don't think I ever had a figure in my life that did not end up leaving. Unconditional love was something I only experienced with Mother and Father, and that was before Mum died. Those two seemed to have that, best mates. Unconditional love.

"Come on in!" I saw Atticus approaching, Noah trailing right behind him. They were soaking wet but hey! At least the weather was great, unlike the day after.

Both taking of their shirts and trousers they pulled me towards the lake.

"Oh, naw. C'mon man. Please- Okay! Okay! I will go! I will go!" They let go of my biceps and let me go on my own.

"I'll just get out of my clothes okay?" And so I did.

I regretted it as soon is I was running towards the water. The feeling of the cold water against my skin wasn't even that bad. It was more so the fact that I had forgotten to take my socks off, which were now soaking wet.
