All we need to know

My wounds healed. After carrying me back to the Tower, he swiftly put me on the bed. He went to the bathroom. I could hear him open the medicine cabinet. I put extra bandages in there, just so I could always have them within reach in case Donghyuck ripped open his wounds again. He took out the bandages, and came back.

"Let's just- Look wait- I'm bleeding on the bed. I can sit on the floor it's okay," I whispered. I tried speaking louder on the way up to the Tower, but it hurt too much. Whispering is the only way.

I tried shuffling off the bed, slightly hissing in pain.

"Don't!" He nudges me back unto the bed. "Lay flat please. You've got a lot of opened wounds underneath here," He motioned toward my stomach, "so this might hurt a little."

He slowly started peeling my shirt off, before stopping immediately. "This won't do. Wait here, don't go anywhere." With this he sprinted out of the room. As if I could leave, I couldn't even stand. I could feel my stomach starting to bruise, and the blood on my knuckles drying. My lip was excessively bleeding and blood was streaming from a cut on my brow bone.  Other parts of my body just felt numb. I couldn't feel  how much it bled, I just simply knew it did.

He returned with scissors.

"Are you going to cut me up in tiny little pieces?"

He scoffed, then smiled. "Don't be daft." He made his way towards my collar bones. He cut my shirt at the top, then made a cut at the bottom.

"What the fuck?" I regretted saying it right after it came out of my mouth. My stomach hurt, the muscles needed to speak at a normal volume were heavily bruised, so I could only wince in pain.

"Shh. Stop moving, don't worry. I'll buy you a new one."

"This is a shirt from the 1999 Givenchy mens spring collection worn on Paris' fashion week. It's one of a god damn kind!" Now, I promise you, I'm not much of a materialistic person, but that shirt really was one of my favourites.

He looked annoyed. "It could be the robes of Jesus himself, for all I care! The shirt is coming off Mark, and this is the only way."

"But-"

"Sit. Still." Anger was now showing in his voice. He glared me, in an intimidating way, and held the eye contact. He raised an eyebrow as if to ask: 'understood?'.

I nodded.

"Good."

He started carefully cutting the front, lifting the fabric bit by bit, careful not to tear the fragile skin underneath. I'm not a horny person, nor do I have a praise kink, but the way his hands hovered over my body, almost if caressing me, and him whispering things like: 'Good job', 'Just a little while longer' and 'Good guy', almost had me whimper a few times. Which is like, really fucking embarrassing.

The air hitting my now bare torso had me shiver.

He lifted me up in order to fully remove my shirt. He took a sharp breath.

"Is it that bad," I asked, trying to lift my head in order to inspect the damage. He gently moved me back down.

"Don't move too much." Donghyuck hovered over me, before he sighed in relief.  "I think it looks worse than it is." He went to the bathroom again, but this time he came back with a wet towel. He slowly started dapping the wounds, trying to clean off the drying blood.

It hurt, but it didn't take long. Soon I was patched up, and wrapped in blankets while Donghyuck was fetching me tea with honey.

The next morning we woke up early to put new bandages on. We hadn't talked about the events of the day before yet, but when Donghyuck came back with both of our teas he breached the topic.

"They didn't do anything you know." He was biting his lip while looking into his tea. As if the left over tealeaves would have all the answers to the secrets of the universe.

"Don't try to make excuses for them." I slowly sat up against the pillows stacked behind me for support. "I want you to be honest with me Hyuck. I want to understand what exactly is going on so I can help you."

He sighed. "I'm okay Mark. Really. You shouldn't have done that. Aren't they your friends? You shouldn't ruin relationships over something silly." He looked into his cup again.

"They are no friends of mine," I remember saying sharply, because I really meant it. Donghyuck exhaled, as if he was holding his breath while listening to my response, and my answer was one he'd hoped to hear.

"I just- you know..." He looked at me.

"Yeah. I know." I took a small sip out of my cup, since the tea was still quite hot. "You mean a lot to me you know. To see people treat you that way just feels so wrong. I couldn't just not interfere." I realised I was working myself up over things.

"What I mean is," I said. "I'm sorry if I just screwed things up even more for you. I know people don't really like you for some reason. I just- I'm sorry." I looked up at him only when I realised I was looking down into my lap, watching my fingers interlock.

I couldn't quite read his expression. He just looked at me for a while before putting down his tea on the little bedside table beside me, wiping something from his eye, and then proceeding to hug the life out of me.

"You mean a lot to me too," Was all he said, before nesteling his head in the crook of my neck. I'm only realising this now, but he had positioned himself carefully avoiding my wounds so he would not hurt me. The thought of that only warmed my heart.

We just laid there in bed, with no words passing between each other. No words were needed. We knew all we needed to.
