Chapter 22 - Heartbreak

I didn't know what to say.

Here I stood next to Jungkook, and in front of me stood my mother. She had an angry expression on her face, and her hands were folded against her chest. Looking at her, I felt like a teenager who had been caught sneaking out of the house.

Finally, after a few minutes of silence, my mom finally asked, "Neha Kumar! What is happening here?"

I saw my mom looking at us with an unreadable expression. I took a deep breath, and started our tale. How we had been friends for a year and how we had started dating a month ago.

After I finished, I looked at my mom to see that she had a blank expression on her face. The minutes dragged on as she just stared at us. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, she sighed and said, "I am not happy at all, and I am very disappointed that you would do something like this and keep it a secret. However, you're a 26 year old, and I can't tell you what to do anymore. I am going to have to tell your dad about this. He has the right to know about this."

I looked at the floor. I could feel tears welling up in my eyes. Suddenly, I felt arms pulling m into a hug. I looked to see that it was Amma. I kept my face in the crook of her neck and said, "I am sorry for disappointing you. I didn't mean to, but I love Jungkook a lot. I just ..."

Amma hugged me tightly and said, "It's okay. I am not disappointed that you are in a relationship, its just that you should have told me earlier. And besides, I can see how you guys look at each other. It clearly shows how much you guys love each other. "

After a few more minutes of hugging each other, we pulled away from each other. Amma went and stood in front of Jungkook and said, "I will be very honest with you Jungkook, I am not very keen on the idea of my daughter dating an idol. However, I see how much you love each other, and I hope that you will treat my daughter well."

With that, Amma took her phone and left the room. I turned to Jungkook and said, "I love you."

He nodded and pulled away from me and said, "Ok then, well I should go back to my room before the search party comes to find me. "

I nodded with a small smile. He returned my smile, and kissed me on my forehead and left the room.
