A Demure and Dandy Love

PROLOGUE

"Good Morning, my Heaven!" Jiwon greeted her daughter with a smile

"Good Morning, mom" Haneul smiled back as she get up from her bed

"Happy birthday, Heaven!" Hanmin came inside his daughter's room too to greet her

"Thanks Dad" she stood up and gave each of her parents a kiss and a hug

"It's your sweet 16, what gift do you expect from us?" Jiwon asked

"Nothing~ a simple dinner would be enough, mom" she gave them an assurance but Hanmin playfully looked at her

"I know you're expecting something..." He smirked

"Dad, of course I do! You always give me surprises" Haneul just laughed at his dad

"Look out from your window" Jiwon whispered at Haneul

Haneul slowly went to peek and she gasped

"A CAR?!"

"You deserve it, Heaven" Hanmin smiled as he threw they key on her

"But, isn't this too much? I'm just 16" she asked as soon as she caught the key

"We're working so we could give you everything, so you deserve it" Jiwon gave her a hug

"Thanks mom, Thanks dad. I love you both" she told them

"We love you more, our Heaven"

"But still, I just really want to eat out with you guys" she smiled widely

"Sure, just enjoy yourself today. We have to go but don't worry, Dad and I will pick you up after our session in hospital" Jiwon nonchalantly stated as she pick her bag up

"Wait? Hospital? What session?" Haneul curiously asked

"Your mom is—" Hanmin started talking but Jiwon cut his words

"Ah. No, I mean... your dad has a business meeting near the hospital and it happens that they are my friends so I'm coming with him today to meet them" Jiwon stated with an awkward smile

"Oh. Okay then, take care. I'll be at Jake's house. He has to see my car" Haneul stated and her parents left

As soon as the couple got inside their car, Hanmin worriedly looked at his wife

"Stop it, Hanmin. I know, I'm sick but it's our daughter's birthday so don't ruin it. Please~" Jiwon just looked outside the window as she talked

"But she also has to know~" Hanmin carefully told his wife while driving

"She doesn't have to know. If I die, I die. All I want is to give her good memories with me. That's all" Jiwon insisted that just made him sigh

"We're very sorry Mrs. Sim, but your lung cancer is already stage 4" the doctor told them

"What do you mean?" Hanmin asked the doctor

"This chemo isn't working anymore. The Cancer cells are too strong and already has spread all over her lungs"

"How long can I live?" Jiwon coldly asked

"No! We can do some surgery. For sure we can find a lung donor in no time" Hanmin opposed

"Hanmin~"

"Where can we find a donor, Doctor?" Hanmin asked the doctor once again and ignored his wife

"Hanmin, stop! It's fine... I'm fine. It's okay" Jiwon grabbed her husband's hand and smiled

"You're lucky if you reached 3 months. We can do surgery and find a donor but there are no assurance of success since the cancer has already affected her heart. I'm really sorry"

They just had a talk for a few minutes before they left the hospital to pick up their daughter and acted like nothing happened.
