New Years Eve 2020:
Her hair bounced around in the wind, it was warming her cold heart even though her arms were covered in goosebumps because the roof was hardly the warmest of places to be. All she needed was breathing space to think and collect her thoughts, she watched as the sky turned dark and somehow her eyes fluttered shut in tiredness but she didn't succumb. Instead, she clasped her slender fingers around the reusable coffee cup she brought before scrunching her nose at the fact there was tea in it. Groaning she downed it anyway just needing warmth in her body. Her phone buzzed and she pulled it out with a small smile seeing Kian's contact light up the screen saying that he was missing her. She chuckled slightly and shook her head knowing they hadn't been separate for a long time. Maybe that was the problem, maybe that's why she felt like this but if she was honest with herself she didn't know how she felt but she found herself going back downstairs and onto Darwin, she sits at the nurse's station before going on the computer.
"Hey," Kian says softly before yawning, Jac smiles at him before turning her head back to the screen "Where were you?"
"Clearing my head," she says quietly and Kian smiles at her, he gets up and massages her shoulders gently "I wish you could do that forever"
"We have forever," he says gently before sitting down in the spare chair "Three hours until the clock strikes twelve"
"Three hours of saving lives, sometimes I question why I still do this" she shakes her head and Kian smiles at her "You make it that bit better you know"
"Just like you make my world complete," Kian says and Jac smiles at him "Anyway I've run scans like you asked me to, they're still not back so I've given more pain relief"
"Good" she confirms and rubs her forehead "I can't wait to just go home and put this awful year behind us"
"I'll be there, every step of the way," he says and she looks at him with a wide smile before biting her lip "Let's get on and work then hopefully all this will go a whole lot quicker"
"Yeah" she nods before turning around and smiling to herself, she shakes her head and fiddles with the pen in her fingers unable to get the daft grin she had off her face...

All patients were settled and both Jac and Kian had done their job, they were sitting in the office with Jac sitting between Kian's legs as he stroked her hair. An hour before the sky would be lit up with fireworks and they were just lying there holding each other not wanting to change it for the world. No one was around and this was their time to have some peace and quiet before everything kicked off in the sky. They knew everyone was out celebrating, they knew that they could have gone but they didnt want to, they were just happy being them lying in each other's arms. Kian was kissing her on the head every now and then as they spoke in hushed tones, she turned around and kissed him softly on the lips and he started to rub her back gently as she opened her eyes to look at him and just as she did the clock struck midnight their lips connected.
"I love you," he says pulling away and she nods slowly
"I love you too," she says quietly and closes her eyes before wincing at the bright colours filling the office, he runs his fingers through her hair "I have something to tell you"
"What?" he questions and Jac looks up at him before sliding off the sofa, she goes into her handbag and bites her lip before rummaging around her bag, she pulls out a rectangular box and passes it to Kian who raises his eyebrows "Jac..."
"I don't know anything yet," she says quietly and Kian breathes out "I know the timing isn't exactly great either but we know nothing for sure do we"
