Pushed right over the edge, he said it.
"Settling in your new country, M'lady?" The words spat like ice, silencing everyone in the room.
Hannah's head snapped up, eyes glaring furiously.
George seemed to silently die inside.
"My majesty, no!" He whispered quickly, but it was too late.
The room seemed to tint to a dim green.
The representatives from the other kingdoms looked around nervously but kept their heads down. This was between two kingdoms.
Clay, of course, sat perfectly still, acting as if nothing had happened.
Meanwhile, the Lady Puffy's eyes kept straight ahead, as if she didn't take a reaction then it would all dial back to normal.
Hannah sipped a bit of her glass of water that was on the table as a refreshment, eyes still on Clay. "I thought we discussed this." She said, addressing him as a pouty child. "She's in my kingdom now, and my captain of the guard."
Clay tapped the table. "Why of course, my lady. But I'm just addressing a dear old friend. A bit overreacting, don't you think?"
Like the genius he was, Clay was always ready to turn the tables.
And like the idiot he was, he was too blind to see his childish behavior.
