A/N: This book is dedicated to my one true best friend. Who has inspired me to write a second book. Truly she is my motivation. Thank you Keyanna.

Prologue:

So much hope had my adrenaline pumping for this exact moment of triumph. I smile to Nate, who gladly returns it with one of his signature grins. Looking straight ahead now I see all of my friends who willingly are risking everything on an old tale that has been passed so far down the line that it's probably been changed. Nevertheless, here we are hand in hand walking down the steepest hill I've ever been on. Harmony yells, "It shouldn't be too far now!" Johnathan gives one big whoop and starts to take off with Kimmy down the slope. Calum starts to say, "Lunatics." Then Harmony replies, "Looks like fun!" and takes off after them with Calum in tow. I giggle and pull Nate the along the hill until my lungs sting with the frigid air.

I recall Johnathan telling me earlier that 'spring was in the air'. It was true; the trees were tipped with little buds ready to spring into life. Also I can't really see the bottom from the position I'm in on the hill. Fog began to gather around the base of the hill earlier. Nate had pointed out that we would have to be extra careful once we reached the fog line. I shake off all of these thoughts so I can concentrate on the skyline ahead of me. I'm also almost sure that the single reason Nate is still holding on to my hand is so that I won't pull another stunt like I did in the woods. Chuckling, I shake my head and force my feet to keep moving downward.

It wasn't too much longer until we were finally at the fog line. Within minutes we were submerged completely by milky white mist. I search for anybody else's hand that I could find. Gripping Nate's hand a little tighter just to make sure he's still there. With a quick pump of his hand I heave a big breath and keep moving. Once the fog thins out I shout, "I see something!" Nate says, "Olivia's right, there are lights just past that line of trees." Again we begin to take off running closing the space between us and the looming trees ahead.

"What's that?" Kimmy asks. I squint my eyes so that way I can see far away easier. Nate answers by saying, "Looks like a gate." I nod and walk closer, which isn't really that intelligent. My parents have always told me to be careful near foreign scenarios as to avoid danger, but since now they are dead does it really matter? I reach out and run my fingers over the smooth and cool surface. It gave me goose bumps and a strange feeling in the pit of my stomach as I backed away. I turn to Nate and before I can shake my head no, the wall split apart making a noise similar to fingernails being dragged down a chalkboard. Millions of men in cloaked figures with weapons, each one of them were restraining each of us to the ground.

I fell with a loud 'thump' to the ground, so hard that I could feel the multiple bruises rising to the top of my skin. The last sound I remember hearing was Nate shouting, "Olivia NO!" With that last thought all went black.
