I had a great sleep and woke up in a happy mood. I had breakfast early and went to help my family catch fish. We were a bit disappointed today as there wasn't that much of fish compared to a few days ago.
I also arrived to school and this time, I wasn't late. The first few classes went well. I had fun during mathematics lesson, duhh!! Then, Lila and I ran to the canteen to avoid the long queue. Thank god we were in time.
As we were about to munch on some biscuits we bought from the canteen, we heard people whispering. No, more like gossiping about me!
It seems that people found out my family are deaf and that we're struggling to make ends meet.
The only person I told about my personal problems and secrets is Gabriel. My heart broke as he promised me yesterday that he wouldn't tell a single soul. I got up and looked at him in disappointment. Then, a bunch of popular girls came up to me and yelled
''Hey deaf / poor girl. How come you haven't told the school about your problems sooner?! We could've made fun of you from the start.'' They teased.
The whole school started laughing at the joke. I felt so fu#$ing betrayed. He humiliated me, TWICE!!!
I left my food, grabbed my bag from class and ran home.
My mom was surprised at how early I returned home bursting into tears. ''I hate him so much!'' I said to myself.
Gabriel too decided to skip class and chased after me to apologize. He ran to my house and knocked on the door but no one opens it. After very much knocking, my mom decided to open the door.
''Mrs Brooke, please let me see Jayda, I have to say something to her!'' He wrote on a piece of paper.
My mom replied to him by writing on a piece of paper that says
(I'm sorry Gabriel but Jayda told me not to let you in.)
After very much persuasion, he told my mom to tell me that he'll keep on calling me till I pick up the phone.
He then left frustrated.
He kept on messaging and calling me non-stop. I left him on read and ignored his calls. I cried to sleep that I skipped lunch and dinner.
I woke up the next day starving. My eyes were all swollen from crying last night. I went to help my dad catch fish again. I told him that I wanted to skip school today but he insisted me to go to school and forget what happened yesterday.
I should't have listened to my dad. As soon as I reached school, everyone kept on calling me funny names. Lila defended me and comforted me that day. I was happy I had someone who was loyal and trustworthy as a friend.
I went to my locker and found many humiliating posters of me. I tore all posters in sight till Gabriel came up to me to apologize. I
''Get away from me!" I said full of anger.
