*continuing from last chapter- and please note that I still suck at describing dance moves*
An exciting, catchy version of the main theme for 'Cats' came on, and the best dancers immediately made their way onto the dance floor. Quaxo and Coristo watched with Old Deuteronomy, Victoria, Misto, and Munkustrap, all grinning.
One of the flashiest dancers, Coricopat, put his paws together in front of Old Deuteronomy, as if to get her permission to go all out with his dance moves. As soon as she gave him a smile as a 'yes', he danced passionately, driving the other cats towards him as well.
Just then, Cassandra and the few of the other cats noticed Grizabella hiding. They began trying to make her leave, glaring their sharp eyes at her. She took one last glance at the ball (despite the fact that they were hissing as well as scratching at her), and Quaxo felt his heart break once again as Grizabella, with no choice, hurried out of The Egyptian.
But something drove his attention away from that almost immediately when Coristo had jabbed his sides. Socrates and Plato, twin cats with shoes on that seemed to have hip-hop dancing as their specialty, was showing the other Jellicles what they could do along with the upbeat music. The cats around them seemed to be doing simpler moves matching theirs.
Victoria, who was standing next to Misto, exchanged excited glances with Quaxo, but before they could anything to each other Cassandra shoved Victoria onto where Plato and Socrates were.
Misto widened his eyes as Victoria looked around uneasily. Cassandra was in front of her, showing her an exaggerated movement of her hands, as if to make fun of how she danced- also to challenge her.
"Do you think she's alright?" Misto said, rushing up to Quaxo, who had his eyes fixed on Victoria.
"I think she might be," Quaxo said, a grin slowly spreading on his face as he pointed to what she was starting to do.
Her dancing almost didn't fit the fast music playing as she started to do some graceful, ballet-like movements, showing the elegance the cats had; something nobody had really shown throughout the ball yet.
Misto looked enchanted by the sights of her twirling on her toes and leaping across the floor, the other cats watching her eagerly.
Munkustrap, who was beside her, spun around once and she continued to dance. More cats joined in, one by one, but by the end, she was the only one left in the middle.
The music slowed down as it started to end, the cats doing their last bits of dancing. Old Deuteronomy started to walk slowly towards the center, looking up at the Jellicle Moon through the broken ceiling.
The dance, at last, ended, with everyone crouching down on the floor, panting heavily. Quaxo and Coristo, who they had just realized hadn't done a lot of dancing throughout the entire ball (mesmerized by all the dancing of the same Jellicle Ball they had never seen before), looked at each other.
Coristo had a surprised but impressed expression on his face, and Quaxo was smiling delightedly.
Then, as if they were two human teenagers, they burst into laughter, holding onto each other's shoulders.
Munkustrap, who looked up to see who was laughing, managed to hurry over to them and hissed, "What's so funny?"
"It's just-" Coristo started to say but his laughter got the better of him.
Munkustrap cracked a grin, like he was trying hard not to laugh, too. "Was our dancing that weird to you?"
"No," Quaxo said, calming down a bit. "It was so fun. I enjoyed it a lot. Thank you."
