Beautiful Ghosts

Victoria stepped out desperately onto the street, watching Grizabella go. However, before she was completely gone, she broke out in a quiet song herself.

Follow me home if you dare to

I wouldn't know where to lead you

Should I take chances when no one took chances on me?

So I watch from the dark, wait for my life to start

With no beauty in my memory

If anybody had noticed Quaxo watching then, they would have seen him with a quite surprised look on his face. She had such a sweet, beautiful voice. He couldn't believe he hadn't noticed it- or even wanted her to sing before. How could he have not noticed how Victoria was feeling either?

Grizabella was listening. She turned back, listening to Victoria's song, making no sound at all.

All that I wanted was to be wanted

Too young to wander London streets, alone and haunted

Born into nothing

At least you have something, something to cling to

Visions of dazzling rooms I'll never get let into

Old Deuteronomy was listening, too, as if truly noticing her for the first time.

Grizabella had hid away between a lamp, but she looked... hopeful. Victoria had caught her eye and seemed to pour her soul out for her.

And the memories were lost long ago

But at least you have beautiful ghosts

Quaxo perked up as Victoria turned towards The Egyptian again, still singing. However, she started to dance along to her song a bit, too.

Her facial expression looked like she was thinking about all the hard stuff she went through- after all, she had been abandoned, ran into a brilliant tribe of cats on the very night of the Jellicle Ball, where she had danced and looked happy- and possibly found a few new friends.

However, it must have all been frightening. Quaxo, who wasn't quite a street cat, either, living with his owner, felt like he gained a new perspective of things.

And so maybe my home isn't what I had known

What I thought it would be

But I feel so alive with these phantoms of night

And I know that this life isn't safe, but it's wild and it's free

Quaxo couldn't help but smile a bit to himself as Victoria started to look more hopeful, almost grinning.

All that I wanted was to be wanted

I'll never wander London streets, alone and haunted

Born into nothing

With them, I have something, something to cling to

I never knew I'd love this world they let me into
