I let the butterfly land on my finger, its elegant wings of black and orange spread out slightly.
The garden was beautiful as always, lush green grass that stopped at your ankles, a lake that parted it in the middle, reflecting the sun in a ripple of clear blue and orange.
Our favorite bench, drawn on and marked by its previous users. My shoulder brushes against our most recent marking.
Liv and Adam XD
Us against the world.A little drawing, courtesy of Adam, right next to it. It's a drawing of the both of us, though my weight is drastically exaggerated, it's my favorite thing about this bench.
He's always been a lousy artist.
The sound of shuffling distracts me from my reverie.
"What the hell happened to you?!"
I watch him limp until he's sitting on the bench beside me, scrawny arms crossed over his bruised chest. He winced as he settled into the bench.
"I don't really wanna talk about it." He said dryly, tilting to lean his head against her shoulder, his messy hair that pricked up in all directions scratching my shoulder.
"Adam..." I said.
"Liv..."
I shrugged him off, narrowing my eyes at his bruised-up figure. "What happened?"
"Nothing." He smiled, flashing multicolored braces. That bastard was always smiling. Even in the worst situations.
I narrowed my eyes at him.
He sighed, his smile flattered. "Just a visit from Kaleb and his goons." He lifted the crooked glasses sliding down his nose with an index finger. "I'll just ignore them..."
Her fists clenched so right her knuckles turned with, her nostrils flaring with heavy breath. Anger, sharp and hot boiled in her stomach and spilled over through her mouth. "I'll kill them," I said through clenched teeth.
Adam recoiled, "No. No confrontation. Just drop it, Liv."
"Why not?"
"Do you know how it would look if you went around beating up my bullies?" He said, his voice suddenly thick with emotion.
"Who cares?!"
"I care."
"Adam-"
"Drop it, Olivia."
The use of my full name made me flinch slightly, only he had that effect on me. I sunk into the bench. "Fine."
Adam smiled again and slid onto my lap. My hands instinctively went to his unruly hair and brushed against the mole, right above his left eyebrow. My cheeks slightly heated.
"I appreciate that you care, but I can handle it myself. Don't do anything."
I rolled my eyes. "I won't, I promise."
I lied.
I thought he wouldn't find out.
He didn't talk to me for a week after that.
~•~•~I'm thinking about Adam more than I usually do.
It was the middle of the night and I was high on sleep. So, I decided maybe I should lose up.
