* A few weeks later*

Nathaniel: Hey, beautiful.

Madison: Hey, handsome. *she smiled*

Nathaniel: Why aren't you with the group as usual?

Madison: I just needed a moment alone.

Nathaniel: So, am I interrupting?

Madison: No, that's fine. I was going to head back to the cafeteria anyway.

Nathaniel: Can I walk you there?

Madison: Sure.

*They began walking to the cafeteria*

Madison: So, how are your preparations for exams coming along?

Nathaniel: I keep reminding myself that the future I want to have someday means I can't fail. I want to be financially secure to take care of my family and leave a legacy for my kids to carry on.

Madison: You almost sounded like a motivational speaker. *they laughed* My mom always tells me that I have to get rich because I like pushing shopping carts in the supermarket and picking up random stuff to try.

Nathaniel: Why can I imagine that?

Madison: I mean, I'm just a simple girl who likes nice things.

Nathaniel: A beautiful girl like you deserves the world. I wouldn't mind having you by my side and helping me to run my empire.

Madison: You watch way too much tv. On that note, you said you had something to tell me when we were texting last night. What was it?

Nathaniel: *he smiled* Well, I like you.

Madison: *stopped in her tracks to look at him* You like me? *she said sarcastically* I find that hard to believe. *he playfully pushed her then made eye contact as he stood directly in front of her*

Nathaniel: I could make a list if you want me to but, I wouldn't want to swell your head before you've made it to your first class.

Madison: Haha. When did you realize you had these feelings?

Nathaniel: The first day I talked to you. *he smiled*

Madison: You're just mocking me. What was there to like about me then? I looked like a fragile, lost puppy who got lost in a crowd.

Nathaniel: You'd make a cute puppy.

Madison: You would make an even better crackhead.

Nathaniel: So you don't have anything to say about my confession?

Madison: I like you, dummy. *she smiled* Now go before I change my mind. *she entered the cafeteria and sat with her friends.

*While talking with her friends, she thought about how liking Nathaniel or even being with him would change her life. Luckily he was already good with her friends. She feared having to meet his friends and be around them. They were cool guys but, she thought of all her insecurities and how quick they would be quick to call them out. Some had never noticed her until she started to talk to Nathaniel. Madison decided that she wouldn't let it get in the way of her being happy.*

*The last day of exams*

Alana: That exam made no sense at all.

Brittany: Maddie deadass took up her geometry set and thought of why she would need it. *they all laughed*

Madison: Honestly, why did we need it?
