*Madison was distracted by her homework and chores that she hadn't realized that Nathaniel ignored her for the entire weekend. When she finally got settled in bed on Sunday night, she decided to text him.*
**OVER TEXT**
Madison: Nathaniel, what's going on with you?
Nathaniel: Oh my God. I just realized I didn't text you back.
Madison: That's crazy. I know something is up so just say it.
Nathaniel: I don't know how else to do this.
*Madison felt her body getting red hot.*
Madison: Spit it out.
Nathaniel: I'm breaking up with you. I'm sorry.
Madison: Okay.
Nathaniel: That's all you're gonna say?
Madison: Do you plan on giving me a reason?
Nathaniel: I just don't think things are gonna work out. It's not you. It's me.
Madison: That sounds like bullshit but I'll take it. It's okay.
Nathaniel: Are we cool?
Madison: Yeah sure.
Nathaniel: I'll still be here for you if you need anything.
Madison: Alright then.
*Madison became numb as the seconds went by. One of her biggest fears actually materialized and she found it hard to not blame herself for what had happened. When all the memories rushed through her mind, she couldn't hold back the tears as she cried herself to sleep*
*At school the next day*
Alana: You don't look like your usual self today.
Brittany: What's wrong, Maddie?
Madison: *she sighed* Where did I go wrong?
Alana: Oh no. Does this have to do with Nathaniel? *Madison nodded in agreement*
Brittany: I'll break his bones if you want me to.
Madison: *she fought back the tears* No, that's okay, Brit. Everything happens for a reason.
Alana: You'll be okay, Mads. *she hugged her* Your girls always got your back.
Madison: Thank you Lana. You don't know how much I love and appreciate you both.
Brittany: We know honey. *she smiled*
*They didn't notice Nathaniel walking over to the table*
Nathaniel: Hey ladies.
Alana: Hi.
Brittany: Hey.
Madison:*without making eye contact* Hey.
Nathaniel: Are you guys good?
Alana: We're perfect. We were just on our way to homeroom so bye. *she took Madison's hand and walked her outside of the cafeteria.
Brittany: He has some nerve talking to you after what he did.
Alana: He better not bother you ever again.
Madison: *she shook her head* You two are crazy.
Alana: At least he didn't suck away all your joy.
*Throughout the day, Madison found herself avoiding Nathaniel at all costs. If she saw him walking towards her, she would turn around and walk away. When he came to her homeroom, her friends blocked his view of her and he took the hint to stay away. *
