Derek was in a deep sleep, visions of sugar plums dancing in his head as he snored softly. He didn't even realize that he had fallen asleep until the bitter cold air hit him like a brick wall, jolting him awake as the passenger door was opened. He sat up quickly and rubbed his hands over his face as he blinked rapidly to adjust to the pitch black darkness. When he was finally able to adjust his eyesight, he turned his head to the right to see his kidnapper standing next to the opened passenger door. A duffel bag was thrown over her right shoulder, a set of keys dangling in her right hand. The gun in her left hand was still aimed at his head.
"Get out." She hissed in a whisper.
Derek sighed as he climbed out of the car, wrapping his coat tightly around his torso to stave off the cold wind that was whipping at his body. It had stopped snowing, but it was still bitterly cold outside. He shut the passenger door and stepped forward when the woman gestured him to do so. Then, he felt the pressure of what he assumed to be the gun as the woman pressed it against the small of his back.
"Walk." She instructed him, nudging his back with the gun to get him moving. He obeyed her command without argument, and began walking up the concrete path before him. As he took another step, he lifted his head to see that they were walking up a paved driveway towards a very nice looking two-story home. There wasn't a single light on in the house, and as he began to wonder what they were doing here, a thought occurred to him.
"Oh, hell no." He muttered as she pushed him forward towards the steps leading up to the front porch. They came to a stop in front of the front door, and Derek shook his head at her. "Not only are you kidnapping me, but you're making me an accomplice to your breaking and entering?" He asked with a scowl as he turned to face her.
"Shut up." She replied quickly.
"I'm not helping you break into this house." He said adamantly. "I told you... if this is a money thing... I can help you out."
"I don't need any money." She told him with a fierce glare.
"Fine. But, when the cops show up, and they will... I want it to be perfectly clear that I had no part in this!" He whispered furiously. He opened his mouth to say something else, but stopped when she slid one of her keys into the front door and unlocked it with ease.
"Oh, great! You stole someone's keys?" Derek asked with a flabbergasted look on his face as Meredith opened the door and ushered him inside with the gun pressed against his back again.
"Just shut up and climb the stairs." She ordered him. "And be quiet! No more talking!" She whispered hurriedly.
Derek grumbled under his breath, and with the woman following him with the gun at his back, they climbed the stairs in total darkness.
